Here's another thought: could it be a service I have running in the background that is causing this trouble? Here are the services that are "started" on my system. If any of them look problematic, please let me know!

At default settings, my X1900 XTX fan seems to be speeding up and slowing down constantly during Battlefield 2. Can anyone suggest fan speeds that would help keep the card at a more constant temperature during gaming?
I'm a novice user of ATITool and use it only for fan control. For it to work, does it need to be running in the background, or can I exit the program after setting the fan speed?
