    abit Closes Down Forever

w00t! Good riddance... had nothing but issues with your crappy Intel boards. Rest in pieces.. chugga.:) On a more serious note, I hope this news doesn't have a negative effect on the market in that other small mobo mfgs like DFI or Foxconn, etc will go under.

    8800 Ultra video crashes

Sounds like your friend sold you a dud, whether is was intentional or not. Best/quickest fix: Buy a 4870 for $199 on newegg. :D Exeodus: How is the Phenom II *drool*

Early Performance Projections for Phenom II X4 940 Trickle-in

The Phenom II X940 will be as expensive or less expensive than these two intel procs. $245 and $270 respectively for the Q9300 / Q9400. Its been rumored that the X940 Phenom will fall a bit below or within these price ranges. Its more performance for your dollar, what it really boils down to.

AMD to Release GPU Acceleration for Applications to run Faster than Ever

Either way tho... 24 minutes to convert a full 1080p hi-def stream is time saved. My overclocked 4870 should be able to knock it down by a couple of minutes.

AMD Posts ATI Catalyst Windows 7 Preview Driver Suite

I have two rigs, xfire 4870 and xfire 4850, both sapphire and runs smooth with all the games my wife and I play. Your probably doing something non standard and thats the nail in the heel so to speak. Both of my setups have large DVI monitors and there is no "black screen of death". Also...

NVIDIA CUDA Delivers 446% Speed Increase to Pegasys Video Processing Solution

If any of you have ever used TMPGEnc, or any of their related products, you will know that they are indeed among the slowest and worst performing of the video encoders out there. So slow and horrid in fact, that anything would merit a 400+/- percent increase in its speed. Even with that...

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 to Arrive on August 31st

I have a Q6600 9x Multi, running at 3.6 Ghz, with 1066 Mhz DDR2 ram. It will take a hell of a new chip to make me leave my baby Q66. You will find OC'ers all over the world with praise for the bang for buck you get from a Q6600. However, 333Mhz FSB base, they have been getting consistent...

Elpida Offers Industry's First DDR2 SDRAM with x32-bit I/O Configuration

I don't know if anyone just noticed, but this will enable desktops to achieve over 15-30 GBytes / sec mem bandwith. Right now your typical dram consists of 8x16M = 64 bit path for the memory module. These new chips will be able to get 128 per module. So we could be looking at a future...

ASUS ROG Presents Full Lineup of Gaming Products at CeBIT 2008

No, you didn't read it right. They list the 9600GT in that lineup. ONly Geforce 8 and 9 series support a seperate shader clock. ATI's GPU architecture doesnt. You have to be subjective in this... the 775Mhz ati shaders outperform 2 to 1 the Geforce's 1.2 - 1.5 Ghz shaders. ATI's R670...

which VIDEO card to go for ?

IMO, I qould go with ATI's solution. It uses more GPU and less cpu. So when something happens in the background, your video doesn't start skipping around. Now you can leave all your applications running in the background... watch your movie, then go back to doing whatever. Edit: ATI's...

NVIDIA Drivers Sacrificing Crysis Quality for Performance

Subtle things you'll never notice. Well turn off AA, and AF and put mip mapping at medium and ATI is the best choice still.

NVIDIA Drivers Sacrificing Crysis Quality for Performance

This is really not news. Its been pointed out alot of times in the past that NVIDIA does this. The alst NV card I had was a FX-5500 back in '04. I've bought ATI ever since. Sure, ati may come in behind a couple FPS on the stupid graphs and charts that NVIDIA is so bent on dominating. But...

    2900XT undervolting.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have the right tools to measure system power usage :(. Maybe I'll look into getting some. But yeah, my card is 100% stable at 1.3, its been running on that for the last 6 months.
