Ok. Just to go way out into the weeds, you might *might*, be able to get another of the same drive and swap the electronics. Not sure what specs you have to match up for this to have a chance but I thought I'd throw it out to see if it sparks any value.

Two things to help out. 1) what hardware are you using? In this case MB and CPU would be good to know. 2) Looking up AMD Promontory tells me that this chipset hasn't been made since 2011. Unless you have an old system and/or I'm wrong on the date, this may be a non issue.

You may be relegated to few options. If you are brave, you could try to remove the drive from the case. The hope is that the USB connector isn't soldered to the drive. The hope is that it has a SATA connection. It may not. The next option would be to send it away to have the data recovered...
