I had Ubuntu set up on my old laptop for my uncle to use for his basic needs of browsing eBay and checking his emails. It just worked and he never needed me to sort anything out.
Energizer copied Duracell. Duracell Bunny dates back to the 1970s.

I last purchased an ASUS P5Q3 which comes with a Core2 Quad Q9550 that I don't need.
I can understand the desire to use older hardware for something rather than letting it collect dust, but I would only consider that if the Ryzen chip was going to be used for something else.
There's no reason to use it in this instance over a modern, faster, and certainly more efficient...
Well aware my friend! I collect processors and wanted to do an APU "battle off" between the different generations. This is 100% just a hobby thing.
Thank you for the link. Just curious which board would make the most sense as the newer boards are sometimes cheaper than B350/X370 second hand...
Hi all,
Just wondering since B350 boards still hold their value even second-hand, are there any B450 or B550 boards that support Bristol Ridge that might be a better buy?
B550 would of course be more ideal, but being newer I know it's less likely?
Thanks.
At that resolution, I would expect you to be GPU limited more often than CPU limited, so an entirely new AM5 system wouldn't seem worthwhile in my opinion.
I'm pretty sure the only reason to consider the newer card is for the better ray tracing performance. The 7700 XT itself makes very little sense when the 7800 XT is only $100 more, so you made the right choice.
