Roccat Announces Kave XTD 5.1 Analog Gaming Headset

Yeah, I second that. Here's some articles to act as an entry-point into the world of audiophile quality audio (for gaming and otherwise) and to learn how to build your own custom headset for better sound at a better price: Gaming Headsets Suck - Make Your Own For $50 or Less Gaming Headsets...

Roccat Announces Kave XTD 5.1 Analog Gaming Headset

"this Kave headset comes equipped with two 40mm driver units, a 30mm vibration unit in each ear cup" Not that I believe them to be true 5.1, but it appears your eyes may have been playing hopscotch as you were reading the sentence. I've actually been reading about how headsets are useless and...

Perfectly Functional GTX 970 Cards Being Returned Over Memory Controversy

You guys gotta read this conversation, it's rather hilarious: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?56998-NVIDIA-Discloses-Full-Memory-Structure-and-Limitations-of-GTX-970&p=471750&viewfull=1#post471750

Perfectly Functional GTX 970 Cards Being Returned Over Memory Controversy

These are my sentiments too. I take quite a bit of offense to his nerd-bashing! Like Tomgang, I feel like this: What I came to understand is that because it can only access one memory partition at a time, it starts alternating between the two partitions, slowing the whole card down...

Optical audio from different sound chip on ASUS Maximus VII Impact?

On another note, in terms of a good looking headset with optical input, I've found nothing that can pry me away from this: http://steelseries.com/products/audio/steelseries-h-wireless

Optical audio from different sound chip on ASUS Maximus VII Impact?

Hey guys, soz, I got a bit out of touch. To answer you, Mussels, I've trying to avoid any extra purchases. That being said though, I had no idea such a thing as that which you linked, existed. To answer you and build upon what Mussels was saying, BumbleBee, my budget is quite literally...

GTX 970 Memory Drama: Plot Thickens, NVIDIA has to Revise Specs

I'm really bummed about all this! Not excited about the prospect of stuttering at higher rezos... and I was just on my way to stepping up my monitor to a ULMB, higher rez monitor.:shadedshu: The GTX970 is my first foray to the green team since my 8600GT and it crossed oceans to get from the...

Plextor Announces M6e Black Edition PCI-Express SSD

Umm... would you really say that is a reasonable comparison of items in the same bracket? The SM951 is comparable to the XP941, whose 256GB price is $250, yet you're comparing it it 1.2+TB drives for $28.5K?:wtf::shadedshu: Note: This is just an M.2 card. If you want the Samsung...

Optical audio from different sound chip on ASUS Maximus VII Impact?

I have been using them for a few years now and there is absolutely no sign of detection when the USB is plugged in. However, if unplugged, all sound fades away. I'm looking at having a headset (preferably my current Roccat KAVE one), rather than headphones + separate mic.

Optical audio from different sound chip on ASUS Maximus VII Impact?

No, it's just for power, really. No connected jack = no sound. I don't know much about DAC and SNR, so let me learn a little about it to better understand what you mean. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Optical audio from different sound chip on ASUS Maximus VII Impact?

Here's my thinking, Samsung's SM951 is really attractive, so I'd like a replacement for my mini-ITX mobo, one that has M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4: Found ASUS Maximus VII Impact. Now I look at the mobo and it breaks my heart because it doesn't have all the audio jacks for my beloved Roccat KAVE 5.1 headset...

Plextor Announces M6e Black Edition PCI-Express SSD

Ha ha, the Samsung SM951 PCIe M.2 SSD completely smokes this, at 2,150MB/s and 1,550 MB/s (read/write), 130,000 and 85,000 IOPS (inputs/outputs). Samsung are really on a roll, it seems, forcing others to market their stuff by "dressing it up", since it lags in performance.

MSI Announces Z97I Gaming ACK Motherboard

I see. I didn't come across M.2's with such high speed. I was looking at the M.2 counterparts to SSD's like the one you see in my specs. My rig is lightning quick ATM, I can only imagine how fast it'd be with a 10Gb/s SSD. I expect a faster CPU than I have would only give a performance...
