Doing this now! This is really great, as now I don't need to save the DVD and can just redownload the game when needed (though I'll just save the DVD anyway). I wish that you could do this with all the games they sell on Steam (like COD4, Crysis, etc.).

Well title is a bit misleading, of course it is, but is it practical? Also, is there an easy way to construct a new bios for the newer capacity? I'm looking at adding 2 GB memory modules to a 512mb HD 4870.

I have two 4870 512mb in CFX. I'd definitely get the 1gb versions if I were you. I love these cards, but playing games like Crysis at higher resolutions still slows these cards down.
