    network attached storage server

I've been using my old discarded rigs, loaded with harddrives for network storage. Even a 233MMX will serve up files just fine. The freebie option ;)

    Power supply poll

For what it's worth, I voted SeaSonic, but I just ordered one of the Corsair units (520HX) yesterday, based on the rave reviews at all of my usual online haunts, and on the input of someone who I respect and is knowledgeable. The current Corsairs seem to be ranked like Antecs were a few years ago.

AIW x800xt so you convinced me

Strick9, Check my sig for some of my AIW X800 overclock results. You should be able to do the same with a good cooler and PSU.

    ATI x800XT AIW Volt Mod

Hey Vet, No, sorry, I don't have the numbers available - I'd have to remove the card and heatsink, and I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to do that right now ;). I am using AS5 on the heatsink itself. I do have the aluminum ramsinks provided with the VF700 installed using the cheesy...

    ATI x800XT AIW Volt Mod

I don't know of any published volt-mods for this card. Mine does as high as 620/620 "stock" though, with the VF700-CU heatsink (max load temp reported 71C using ATI Tool, idle at 37C). I run it 24/7 at 560/560 with no worries at all. I ran 3dMARK '05 at 604/615 for 7213 (see my sig).

    IC7 Temperature problem

I've got the same board, with the most current bios, and it does not seem that there is a fix for this. I also use the XP90 HS, and I don't really worry about the reported temps too much - seems the temp reporting is on the conservative side, and my cpu runs out of steam well before the temps...

    new socket478 obo

Thanks for the response. I'd have to say that I've noticed pretty much the same, but I was unaware that this is a known issue and always figured that it was due to my configuration, so I didn't really worry about it. I'll probably be on the same upgrade path as you, sometime after the new year.

    Asus EAX800XT

Hmm, sounds like a question for w1zzard then. I never had to do anything to get it to work with my X800XT...

help needed, need new cpu, but abit is worthless

You're right Tony, I was thinking of the 3.4EE Galatin, but wrote 3.73. Doh! Dunnleed, you should be OK with just a chipset driver update.

help needed, need new cpu, but abit is worthless

Process won't matter, as long as it's socket 478. Don't worry about it :)

help needed, need new cpu, but abit is worthless

Hey, that's not a bad cpu at all. You might just want to keep an eye on the temperature if doing any overclocking, but good score with your girlfriend's money :toast:. Kingston 3200 ought to do the job well enough, again, as long as you're not doing any crazy overclocking. Have fun with it...

    Bought X850XT ATI

Should be able to OC that badboy (might need better cooling though). I'd imagine that you should be able to hit 560/560 minimum with good cooling... My X800XT does a lot more than that when I ask it nicely :)

    new socket478 obo

Interesting. I have the same board, and at times notice a little bit of sound breakup, which I have always attributed to either my AIW video card or my antiquated SB PCI128 sound card (I've never bothered with the onboard sound). Are breakup issues what you are referring to, or is it background...
