More Pictures of GK104 Reference Board Surface

The thing is... the d-pak or whatever package they have as backup does pack alot more punch if needs be compared to the ones mounted on the picture. Thats why I wonder if we will see more high end cards where this is needed.

More Pictures of GK104 Reference Board Surface

The 2nd picture is quite interesting. I wonder why they choose to have support for multiple mosfet packages? That does look like pads for d-pak package? Are we looking at variants for more power or just second sourcing or perhaps this is just a development board.

Danamics Intros LMX Liquid Metal CPU Cooler

If you check the site, the actual socket compability animation does list support for 1156, but the text doesnt. So it may actually support 1156, nice marketing fail.

Samsung Begins Production of High-performance GDDR5 Memory Using 50-nm Technology

Where did you get those numbers? I'd be very shocked if it was even remotly close to a cost of 5 dollars for a 12-layer board. I'm sure that tooling and machine-time costs for board that has 512bit bus is way more expensive.

Samsung Begins Production of High-performance GDDR5 Memory Using 50-nm Technology

You are both right and wrong about this. You are right that the cost differance is basically 0 when it comes to 10 tracers vs 1000 traces. But you must also consider that having 1000 traces involves having multiple layers (i think most gfx boards use 10-12 layers?). Add to that that the...

Lian Li Launches the All New Silent Force PSU Series

I believe that the cable becomes quite stiff because of the shrinktube, and usually you bend the cable the most at the ends to hide it away? Just a thought, and yeah i agree its a little ugly indeed.

AMD 45nm Deneb Consumes up to 12% Less Power Compared to 65nm Agena

Wasn't these processors tested with the same cpu voltage, 1,224V i think i read somewhere. If so the new 45nm processor still consumes less power even tho it shouldnt need that much voltage to operate at the same GHz. I guess it can only get better when the voltage is dropped yes?

X800-X850 AGP/PCIx POSSIBLE EXTRA PIPE UNLOCKING

Hi. Ive been watching this thread closely for a week or so, and my hope is still there that we can make this work. So, I figured i could contribute a little to your research. I attatched the info ATItool gives. I have done the following "mods" to my card. I connected the "lasercut" with...

X800-X850 AGP/PCIx POSSIBLE EXTRA PIPE UNLOCKING

I have a x800pro vivo pci-e (built by ati) that i have tried to unlock pipes on. I have connected the bridge (lasercut) but that ofc didnt work out, so if this is a new idea to unlock, NICE. But and this is a big but.... i cant say i have the skills to unsolder and solder back the resistor as I...

    16 pipes for x800 pro vivo pci-e?

aye my card has the lasercut, and say i unlock the pipe and its faulty, i could just flash the old bios back to close the faulty pipeline right? so in other words back to default 12pipes.

    16 pipes for x800 pro vivo pci-e?

i havent tried flashing, as im happy with my card standard. But ati tool detects my card as a x800pro vivo pci-e with a r423 core, which is the same core as x800xt and x800xt pe. now lets say i solve the lasercut on my card with some conductive paint, and flash a bios, i actually think it should...

    question on bios flashing

its quite obvious you wont magically get 64mb more ram, but nice wishful thinking :p

Lasercut x800 pro vivo pcie question...

as far as i know that serial number thingy is far from scientific. pure luck imo if it works or not.

Lasercut x800 pro vivo pcie question...

hmms but the pipe mod is reversible right? i could just use some kind of alcohol and remove the conductive paint aye?
