    Fan suggestion X1950XT

I agree with your point, x800profs card sounds suspect. I have an x1950xt (or had since I sold it and bought an 8800GTS) and ran it with the VF-900 and it worked very well compared to the stock noisy piece of shit that came with it. My temps never exceeded 65C under absolute maximum load, and...

    Sapphire X1650XT Heatsink/Fan Suggestions

The Zalman VF-700-cu is also a good unit, not quite as good as the VF-900, but certainly cheaper.

    Post your 3dmark06 SCORES !!!! =p

Okay, I'll try it out on the default settings, and on the factory speeds, as I can't get my OC utility to work on Vista. I'll post it in the later in the morning (it's 2:30am here).

Damn my X1950 pro is dead.

Ah, I thought so. Yes, some of the mosfets and IC's at the back do get a bit warm.

    Post your 3dmark06 SCORES !!!! =p

I only got 4270 on my x1950pro @ 1024x768, 32bit col, 4xAA, 8xAF. Not sure if that is good or bad?! BTW, I'm running on an Athlon 64 x2 4600+ with 1GB Ram & Vista ultimate.

    Tkpenalty's X1950~HD4k Clubhouse

Use a small jewellers screwdriver or art-knife, just try to wedge it between the ramsink and the chip, and gently twist to try and lift the corner of the heatsink. Once you have slightly lifted it, you can then use a slightly larger screwdriver to lift it higher and remove it using your fingers...

Saphire x1950xt cooler vs ARCTIC COOLING Accelero X2

The X2 seems to be a decent cooler and dirt cheap, and is very quiet, almost silent. It's probably better than the Saphire stock cooler. Though the the best thing about the stock cooler is it vents the heated air out of the case, and does not circulate it back inside the case like the X2.

what I hope doesnt happen with the R600 or X2900

Ah, yes. The 9600xt, an excellent VC, those were the good old days. My old AGP card was rugged as anything, and didn't require the monster heatsinks that some VC's use today.
