got myself a Zalman VF900-Cu yesterday for my Zotac 8800GT to replace the stock cooler, and that thing rocks!:rockout: before the zotacs idle temps were at 58°c and load up to 96°c now it idles at 37°c and the max load temp i got so far was 53°c after about one hour ati-tool artifact-scan...

besides the power question - that mainboard you mentioned is a sli and not a cf board

according to specs listed in the links you posted, the black one (ABIT IP35 Pro XE) supports higher fsb (up to 1600) and faster ram (pc2-8500), the pro also marks one of their pci-e16x as just 4x, while the xe seems to have two pci-e16x at full speed

no it doesnt beat the 3870x2 or the 9800x2 read a review (http://www.gameswelt.de/articles/reviews/4947-Asus_EAH3850_X2/index.html - its german) where it lies behind the other dual gpu cards

i think with gigabyte its same colour slots for dual channel mode (so red-red or yellow-yellow)

hi! since you have an old mainboard, which i think can't handle sataII, have you set any jumper on your harddisk to reduce the speed to sataI? i think my samsung disks have this feature , so may your disk has this too? in german: nachdem du ein älteres mainboard hast hast was glaub ich mal...

from my experience thats normal that it shows just one, the important thing is that you've enabled sli in the nvidia drivers with me 3dmark also showed just one card, but used both (tried two runs, one with sli in drivers deactivated - big difference in score)

i build pretty much the same pc for a friend of mine: q6600 g0 2x 8800gt sli 2gb 1066 ddr2 asus mb with nvidia780 standard 3d mark score was pretty disappointing ~13700 cpu oc'ed to 3ghz : ~16350 so oc your cpu - it will boost your 3d mark score!

well, the situation here in central europe isn't much better, haven't found one q9450 on stock in any online store in austria or germany... :cry:

i had an similar problem at first with my 8800gt - in some, not all, of my .avi's i had green bars, looked a bit like barcodes. they disapeared with newer drivers

i oc'd a q6600 G0 for a friend of mine to 3ghz, 12h prime95 stable (stopped by user , not hardware:laugh:) just raised the fsb to 333, left all volts to auto, but disabled eist and speedstep. mobo: ASUS P5N-T Deluxe (nforce 780ultra), ram: 2gb Kingston HyperX 1066

as mentioned above you will need dx10 for very high; i don't think that the 9600gt will be powerful enough to give you anything near playable on very high settings - with my 8800gt i can play with high settings, no AF, no AA on 1280x960
