MSI Unveils Turbo U.2 Host Card

I'll ease it up for you: Sata Express is Dead. M.2 is the successor to mSATA U.2 is just M.2 with a cabled interface. Basically before we had mSATA for laptops and SATA for desktops. Now we have only M.2 going forward, desktops using the same interface as laptops. So you see it's less confusing...

MSI Unveils Turbo U.2 Host Card

Why is there a chip on the U.2 board? I don't see one on Asrock's nor Asus boards... EDIT: Seems to be a signal amplifier, guess it could be good for longer or cheaper cables... http://be.msi.com/product/mb/TURBO-U.2-HOST-CARD.html

    Toshiba HK3R2 960 GB

Wow, that database performance is interesting! Could you please post a Atto benchmark run from this drive? Even at lower queue depths than the default of 4 would be interesting.

    Vibe Therapy Meridian

Ok, I did not mean to come off as _that_ offensive and sorry if I did, it was not meant as a personal insult, even I see how it could be read at such. I've just always been really pissed that if someone shows a nipple on TV or such the world is going to end and all hell breaks loose, but to show...

    Vibe Therapy Meridian

Really fun review, loved the scope shots :) And to all whining about minors seeing this, do some parenting and put them infront of the TV where they can see something less disturbing like someones brains being shot all over a wall.

    Samsung Mass-Producing SM951 PCIe M.2 SSDs

ASUS Announces the X99-E WS Workstation Motherboard

Thanks for the input. Haha, yea that Xeon is cheap, but then again it's also less than half of the clockspeed of the 5820k ;)

ASUS Announces the X99-E WS Workstation Motherboard

As the discussion is a bit around ECC memory I'll throw this in hoping someone knows. I'm considering to buy a X99 mobo along with a 5820k now. And then down the road when these processors come down in price have a nice upgrade path. For example right now you can find the LGA1366 six core Xeon...

Intel Debuts the Xeon E5-2600/1600 v3 Processor Family

Yea I'm eyeing these. I'm considering to buy a X99 mobo along with a 5820k now. And then down the road when these processors come down in price have a nice upgrade path. For example right now you can find the LGA1366 six core Xeon 5650 for around €65 on eBay, that's a fantastic bargain! My only...

Western Digital Introduces 6 TB WD Red Hard Drive

Warranty is 5 years vs 3 Spindle speed is 7200rpm vs 5400 This last point I'm not qualified to say for certain, but I think it's just marketing bullshit to make the numbers look better when infact they are the same? Non-Recoverable Read Errors per Bits Read: <1 in 10^14 WD Red <10 in 10^15 WD...
