    Another Q6600 query...

For sure :) 'Twas a bit costly, but it's nice knowing I can push my machine and know it's all happy on the inside. EDIT: Thanks again guys- you helped make a tough decision a lot easier.

    Another Q6600 query...

Just as a followup- I grabbed the NH-U12P SE2. Despite a few installation time wasters and not being able to reach one of my motherboard screw positions because of its size, it's working wonders. I have it on the silent mode, and idle is 25-35C, with full load resulting in a maximum of 49C...

That sounds decent enough :) It's a shame this is a time critical thing, otherwise I'd grab one for sure. I guess I'll look at my budget, and if things are tight I'll just order one and hold off on what I need to do. Otherwise, I'll go the Noctura. Cheers for your help, once again.

Are you sure? From what I've been reading a dual fan NH-U12P does a fair amount better job than the Xig. Either way, the main reason I'd grab one is just because at the moment I need the issue sorted out by the end of the weekend- lots to do next week.

    Another Q6600 query...

:) I'm leaning more towards the NOCTUA NH-U12P SE2. It's a bit pricey, but it's dual fan and comes with its own (decently rated) TIM. Once I add TIM and shipping costs to the Xigmatek the cost is pretty close anyhow.

Doubtful with the weekend ;) EDIT: Colling-wise that Xigmatek Achilles is pretty impressive for the money, but the idle fan volume is pretty loud compared to everything else.

Thanks Mussels, for a moment there I didn't realise you were here :) The xigmatek cooler looks good, but I don't have any available locally for purchase tomorrow. do you know much (or have you heard much) about the Noctua coolers?

DrPepper, I love that image ;) I have pm'd the scary (very clam-like) man. At the moment the Noctua NH-U12P is looking nice. I don't know how loud it is, but it looks like a really solid cooler, and cool is possibly worth the extra cash.

I do indeed, and it's nearly bedtime for me ;) I may shoot Mussels a PM (whoever he is- he sounds scary) but I also may just go for the CNPS9500 tomorrow. I need to get this comp sorted asap. Either way, thanks for your help.

Good idea. One Two Three Four Noctua stuff is popular over here in Aus ;)

    Another Q6600 query...

Hmmm, I can't find any of them near me. I have found a CNPS9500, so that might do if I don't manage to scrounge one up. Thanks again everyone for your help.

A lot of these coolers aren't available to me locally. I have the Hyper TX3, and a bunch from Noctua.

    Another Q6600 query...

Actually, is that cooler suited to the Q6600? It doesn't seem to be... unless I'm reading things wrong. EDIT: Sorry, scratch that- I'm looking at an AM2 version :P

    Another Q6600 query...

LOL That's good actually, I was just about to say one of the only local purchase options I have is the CNPS9500 :)

    Another Q6600 query...

It does, but... I was under the impression if I changed the fan I'd need to apply some new paste. Correct me if I'm wrong- I'm no expert ;) Thankyou kindly for the suggestions Dyno and Delta6326!
