As you've found out, the Intel version of the driver doesn't normally allow you to install their version. You'll need to download the zip version of the driver, and use device manager to manually install from wherever you unzip it.
This should be relatively simple to remedy. 0x7Es usually call out the offending driver. You could use something like bluescreenview to interpret the crash dump files and identify what driver is causing the issue.
