Thanks fellas! the uATX board I purchased only has one pcie slot anyway so no hope for crossfire with discrete cards.
All told cost was $180ish for 5800k, a75 chipset asrock mobo and 8gb 1600mhz ram after cashback. Not too shabby!
Okay, so just to be clear - when you said CrossfireX you meant crossfiring 2 discrete video cards?
And by dual graphics - "crossfire" with apu & one discrete card = old hybrid graphics?
I just purchased an a75 board from newegg yesterday, item already shipped but I read your article after...
Dave,
I have a question about this article now. On page 2 you suggest that only the A85X can utilize crossfire. However it seems that the A75 can also crossfire at least in the FM1 chipsets. Can you clarify this in the article? Did amd disable crossfire on D3 hudson and only allow it on the a85x?
I just purchased a 5800k & an asrock uATX board and found this thread by googling overclocking results of the igpu. If 1600 3dmarks can be achieved with it at stock i'm hoping to get 2000 hitting 1000mhz core or 1050, etc. I don't have the board but we shall see.
The big advantage here though...
Grey area. Apple invented the tablet as we know it. Did samsung copy that? Yes. But what really is happening here is a debate as to whether GM copied ford when it created its own version of a 'car'. Most people agree that GM copied the idea, made it its own and slapped GM on it. Is that...
Just got a 7770 and i'm trying to underclock the video memory while folding. Can't figure out how. MSI afterburnder doesn't work, trixx doesn't work, barelyclocked doesn't work.
This is my first intro to the 7000 series. Anyone have any thoughts on how to underclock it in windows to 300mhz...
I just wanted to bump this thread and say that the only solution I found was to use my own 6950 bios and unlock the shaders with w1zzard's php script. Its not 6970 mind you, but at 1.1v it does do 900mhz/1375 stable. I'll have to just wait to see if/when asus releases a new bios to fix this...
Who buy's their video card locally? really? Best buy or fry's? lol cmon man.
And if it weren't for Nvidia, amd would still be charging $700 for the 7970. Ridiculous. You know its true. The availability of the 7970 is likely tied DIRECTLY to it being overpriced relative to the 680gtx. Today's...
What the hell, I had no idea AMD users and fan boys were so full of rage! Jeesh! No matter how you spin it, this is sad for AMD. Completely owned by nvidia.
I think last summer kinda proved otherwise. 5000 series cards were unavailable for months and 5970s were going for $700 to $800 on ebay. On top of that 6950s and 6970s while available were somewhat scarce. Reference cards were nearly impossible to find by end of June.
Hey i'm an amd fan myself...
Its a sad day, AMD. Or: When AMD fanboys ATTACK!!!!!!
When the gtx690 gets released a month after the gtx680 and AMD can't release the 7990 4 months after the 7970... its a sad sad day.
:ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::ohwell::cry...
I've thought about going ahead and giving that a try. However with the imminent release of ivy bridge i'm guessing there will be another asus bios released pretty soon here. In the mean time 5 to 10% drop from 6970s to 6950s isn't that big a deal for me. Plus i am somewhat interested to see if a...
