PC won't post with GPU installed

My idea: Heavy video cards can be weighted down so much they make a poor connection in the slot. Ensure that the card is level, parallel horizontally as it should be. If it is sagging, use zip ties or long twist ties to lasso the card around something above it, and adjust to make it horizontal.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang Says NVIDIA-Branded CPUs Could be Coming

An image search on Project Denver brings up some of the history of nVIDIA CPUs. https://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=nvidia+project+denver ARM CPUs have a poor history with Windows so far. The Surface X sounds like it has some better performance with the x86-like emulation/translation. -Shrug-

Apple is Preparing its Own Search Engine

Folks, Google didn't invent the search engine. They put figured out how to build one. They they figured out how to get better results. It's not just a patented PageRank system. It's having words paired up into phrases, and some manual adjusting by employees to figure out what a searcher was...

Chenbro Unveils 2U 8-Bay Rack Mount Server for Data Center

I've at times worked one of the previous generations of this server and really liked them. I didn't know Chenbro made the cases. Hot swap PSUs, all good stuff.

Samsung at CES 2020: SSD 980 PCIe Gen 4 M.2, SSD T7, and the Gorgeous Odyssey G9 Monitor

With Samsung, the Pro has been MLC and the EVO and EVO+ are TLC, QVO being their brand for QLC. I assume they are continuing that way.

NVIDIA Sued by Company Behind Big Samsung and Broadcom IP Dispute Wins

That sounds like an actual solution I would be for. What's to say TSMC being a veteran in this business didn't develop their own tech independently? It is after all a Taiwan company manufacturing in China. What about Taiwanese patents TSMC has? International agreements on IP and trade come...

    ASUS Launches Z390 Series Motherboards

I recall that the boards with the PLX chip are always the best. I've had a couple in the past. But with the new RTX cards with the new higher bandwidth NVLink for SLI, I wonder if the PLX is even needed?

NCIX Database Servers Containing Unencrypted User Data Cause Yet Another Data Breach

That is an incredible story. Their e-commerce platform software they developed would probably have a development cost well in the tens of thousands of dollars, maybe as high as a hundred grand. Think, they would've had barcode integration and tying in with accounting. That would've had some...

Editorial On Intel and Their $7B White House Affair

Thanks Raevenlord for what I felt was a challenging and informative, even-handed editorial. Thanks for not being hyper-liberal like every other tech writer out there. I read and hear so much anti-Trump stuff which is so misinformed or deliberately distorted, that I'd think I'm living outside...

NVIDIA Stock Tumbles Amidst Analyst Talk of Gaming's Decline

Can AMD put HBM2 memory on a CPU package? If so that would be a really interesting possibility, considering PC APUs so far have been lower performing than one would've thought. And I mean on that note, HBM built into the CPU could compete with Intel's Optane cache memory, right?

Socket 1151 pin head broke off. Is there a way to fix it?

The jeweler option sounds good. I was thinking, you'd need a "helping hands" magnifying lens. You'd need to tape off the socket with masking tape, except for a tiny hole where the missing pin head is. Then, solder a tiny bead of solder onto it. It's risky. You would just need to plan well...

NVIDIA Tesla P100 Available on Google Cloud Platform

Well that's cool to learn they're using HBM2 memory in a shipping product. We should see that on a consumer video card someday.

    Need help with pcb trace

If your board died from a power surge I would probably recycle it. In the past I've repaired a board that had a screwdriver break a trace. If I recall correctly, I used sandpaper to clean the top layer off right at the break, then using masking tape to protect the good traces, I used molten...

    BlackRoom: John Romero's Newest Adventure

I've never kickstarted before, but BlackRoom sounds like it could be fun. Granted, Daikatana was kind of stupid, fighting robot frogs in the future, and skeletons in ancient Greece or whatever. But this sounds rather up to date, conceptually.

BenQ GW2760HS 27-inch Monitor Available in April

Loving my new Asus 25 inch monitor at 1080p, 'cept for the TN panel viewing angles. I used a 26 inch LCD TV for years and I felt the 26 inch screen was a tad too big. I don't think I'd appreciate a 30 inch LCD. I looked at the BenQs but the PCmonitors.info review looked like it had ghosting...
