Guide to running multiple GPU work units

Anyone successful in running NVidia and AMD/ATI GPU in same rig - either same project or different? I have not tried it yet and while both cards with current drivers 'should' run under windows 7 independently, I don't currently have an AMD card to test with.

Guide to running multiple GPU work units

Norton/Ion - thanks for the input. I did not expect it would be relevant (assuming there wasn't a bottleneck elsewhere). I tried to perform some anecdotal tests, but with WU's of varying sizes and the inability to re-run the same WU's for comparisons, it wasn't possible to get any meaningful...

Guide to running multiple GPU work units

Question for those running multiple GPUs - do you notice any performance difference based on the PCI slot? For example if you have 3 identical cards in a mobo with x16, x8, x4 is there any demonstrable difference due to the number of channels or are the data transfer requirements for the GPU...

    TPU's WCG/BOINC Team

According to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon_HD_7000_Series, the 7770's support DP, but...at a fraction of others. Everything prior to Tahiti is fairly anemic in that category. Definitely more research to do!

Another excellent point - assuming you are correct that the 7770 cannot do DP, then I would not want those. Thanks for bringing that up.

Thanks for the input - I'm still evaluating potential GPU's. While price/performance is 'a' factor, it's not the primary driver as I appreciate the constant fluidity of the GPU market. Obviously, just a hobby, but would prefer not to drop 1k+ on a system that is dedicated to GPU crunching only...

    TPU's WCG/BOINC Team

While new to your forum, I've lurked for a while and appreciate the wealth of information you have shared on GPU processing, which has helped renew my interest in grid computing. I was spec'ing a dedicated 'cruncher' with 3x7770's in a HAF-XB when I saw a post that WCG expects the GPU tasks...

    WCG GPU Crunching: Performance/Value

    Thanks for doing this, I've been researching the same info. Following are my stats: CPU Model/Speed: i7 960/3.2 GPU 0 Model: GTX 660 'SuperClocked' model GPU 0 Time per WU: 11-14 (1CPU + 1GPU) GPU 1 Model: GTX 550Ti GPU 1 Time per WU: 16-18 (1CPU + 1GPU) Running 2WU at .5 + .5...
