How to enable additional shaders on Radeon HD 6950

Thats correct... you can't change the core / mem speeds in BIOS. Only the voltage. Otherwise, you will BSOD on bootup. Thank you AMD for placing these restrictions.

How to enable additional shaders on Radeon HD 6950

AFAIK this trick only works on reference cards ( not 100% sure ).

AMD Rolls Out the Catalyst 12.11 Beta 8 Drivers

My 6950 CF setup went up from 39fps in crysis 2 benchmark fully maxed out 1920x1200 using Cat 12.8 to 61fps using 12.11 b8 :nutkick: I can replicate this if i go back to 12.8..

Where do you find the voltages in the registry ? I'd like to ckeck mine. thx

How to enable additional shaders on Radeon HD 6950

Ok, the cards may use these wires as some sort of 6 pin or 8 pin sensing mechanism, but the PSU itself does not "sense" anything. The PCI-E plug itself is pure 12v +ve and COM GND. Thats the point i was trying to make.. I have made this observation myself and i am 100% certain that ALL the...

How to enable additional shaders on Radeon HD 6950

Yes they are... just GND ( common GND to be more specific ) !! If they were anything else, they would be coloured differently. Also, for experimental purposes, i have cut the wires on a pci-e plug and rejoined them in a different order ( keeping yellows together and blacks together ) and it...

    6950 overclocking issues..

Well actually, i stopped using RBE for voltage control so i have no answer for you. Im now using MSI AfterBurner for everything. Cheers

Push overdrive limits over the top!

Right now i have managed to get both my cards running at 1000/1400 using 1.275v. Powertune is really bad using Furmark, but when using 3DMark11 on High preset it doesn't kick in at all... go figure. Also upgraded my PSU because my old one would go into overcurrent protection when going to...

Push overdrive limits over the top!

I wish there was a way to increase powertune limits.. ie, above +/- 20% I have succesfully used RacerX to raise my overdrive limits, and i have also successfully modded my vga bios to increase 3D voltage. However, there is a problem with all this.. The total TDP of any given card cannot...

never mind guys... found my answer. It's powertune kicking in. :banghead:

    6950 overclocking issues..

Hey guys, Here is what i have done so far : - Unlocked extra shaders using RBE 1.28 - Increased the voltage of my 6950 to 1.275v using RBE 1.28 - Increased upper clock limits in CCC using RacerX v11 - Set power control in CCC to +20% Now, the issue is that when i increase the core...

I'm confused... need help with 6950 volts

Ok. I can confirm that the 3d voltage does indeed work but not showing in furmark. Problem solved. Thx guys. :)

I'm confused... need help with 6950 volts

Yep. Yep. I think thats what the problem is. I did manage to OC my card to 930Mhz this time round whereas it would crash before, so it seems as if the voltage change has taken effect just not showing in Furmark. I will install AfterBurner when i get home from work and see if the...

I'm confused... need help with 6950 volts

Actually crazyeyes, you got it wrong too (sorry :) ) I adjusted my overclocking limits using an app called RacerX v11. What that does is change my registry settings which in turn increases the overlocking limits within CCC. The only thing I want to use RBE for is set my 3D voltage... that's all

I'm confused... need help with 6950 volts

Thx for the advice slyfox, but how is this relevant ? I haven't changed my clocks or anything like that. Just trying to get 3D voltage to work thats all.... nothing major. BTW, i AM overclocking in software....
