Thermaltake Launches Contac 29 Multi-Socket Budget CPU Cooler

Awesome design Xig... *Ahem* I mean, Thermaltake!

Why no officially rated 4GHz CPUs?

Point taken. You are of course correct, binning is one of the mitigating factors. That is one fine E8600 BTW. Nope, but good guess though. My sig is from a highly modified version of Freespace2. If you enjoy space combat sims, it puts the 'X' series to shame IMHO. You can find all the...

What do you want most from the gaming industry?

#1: Freespace3 (cries) #2: Square-Enix to stop teasing us and do a faithful PS3 remake of FFvii. (faithful means everything, even the bugs) #3: Chrono Trigger 2 (Chrono Cross was great but not a real sequel) #4: A real 3D remake of Chrono Trigger (killing the resurrection project and not doing...

Why no officially rated 4GHz CPUs?

I said "starts" to go unstable. The exact speed depends of many factors. There is no exact speed wall to run into, stable overclocks have been achieved past 6 Giga hertz under LN2. Point is, it's not commercially viable. If they actually took the chips to their limits at stock, where would...

Why no officially rated 4GHz CPUs?

The real answer is technology. Current generation signal multipliers start going unstable at those speeds, and until recently there were no viable alternatives. Now with the advent of graphene-based signal multipliers, estimated speeds of up to 1 Tera hertz could be reached (in theory anyway)...

NEC Joins the Netbook Market with LaVie Light

Really? Wow, could have fooled me. The only netbooks I've seen around recently are the sub $400 Aspire One's. When I ask why they were purchased the first thing I'm told is usually some variation of "because it was the cheapest", often including "with XP". The next thing usually is "and look...

NEC Joins the Netbook Market with LaVie Light

Isn't the whole point of a netbook to be cheaper than a regular laptop? There are plenty of full sized laptops available for under $650. Doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose? It's not just this one either, they are making pricey eee's as well. I think these companies are starting to...

Looking for a new 2x2gb set.

I know this may sound nuts coming from me, but here is my recommendation. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161183 Wintec has been the most compatible brand I have ever used, with not a single problem to date. It's cheap, but not in a bad way. The only thing to...

    DFI Bloodirons - any good?

I'll vouch for the DFI DK P35-T2RS. I've got one and it overclocks very well. It's only ~$20 more than the BloodIron, and worth it IMHO. I've got my Q9450 oc'd to 3.2ghz on stock volts, but it can go much higher with a little boost here and there. Very stable, lots of options in the BIOS...
