I was going to choose ASRock z97 Extreme 4, but then i read that it has issues like it being dead within 2 months.

This is my first pc build and i'm gonna use it... mostly for gaming, heavy browsing , watching movies/videos and maybe sometimes, do editing. Which is better? Performance wise and in terms of quality. I heard that mobos can go dead from time to time so i'm somewhat worried about that too.

Just to clarify,when i say reasonable its a thing that has things that you really paid for,not just an monitor who has near-useless features with an overpriced price.
