Thanks for the find mate!! The 4th post says that the Extreme4 mobo has some issues with the backplate and guess what? I am running the rig on the same mobo at the moment as RMAed my p67 fatality. I will surely try to add some washers and see how it turns out!

The fans are also working OK - put them out on max speed (2400rpm or so I think) and did not make much difference. The thing is, if it's a faulty refurb, what possibly is wrong with it per se? As everything seems to be working fine -except it's just not cooling as much as it should be!

I tried adding some oil lubricant this morning but didnt have enough time to test it out for a long period, though the sound was almost immediately gone. I'll have a better look once i get home. Anyway, i guess this is only a temporary solution and the fan will fail at some point later on...

that cpu is fine for 5770, even for a 5850/5870. its strange how your load shoots up like that :confused:

ye it works better like that for me with the mx2, arctic recommends that method too. i highly recommend this thermal paste! ;)
