That's a really high voltage for the clock speed actually. You should be able to reach it in the 1.2* range. 3GHz is usually doable in the 1.1* range.

Ive dropped it down 1.3125 to see if it makes through the night running my SETI. I know its not PRIME, but this box is my gamer/SETI box so if it can survive SETI, it's as good as stable for me.

1.3125 was no good ... back up to 1.3175. SETI crashed after about two hours. Im still quite happy.

Stock (6x389) works 1.1175v just fine ... ran C1E and SpeedStep on, and it dropped down to that.

hang on are you guys seriously saying that you can run at 3ghz, below stock voltage???

i run 3ghz on stock volts, and sometimes it wants more! (stock is 1.2875 or something very close)

3.6 takes a monumental amount, or at least it did...i didnt realise i could play alot more with voltage on my P45 board.....

tonight ima try 3.0 @ 1.2v maybe less, and ima try higher clocks on stock volts.

and even without this knowledge... P45 + Q6600 FTW :rockout:

my vid @ 3.0ghz is 1.2500 but @ 3.2ghz it needs 1.3250

Been running a Q6600 at 3.6GHz at a hair under 1.4v now for about a year. Bought two Q6600s in august '07 and kept the one that clocks better. Kinda shame to have wasted money on all those Core 2s I've bought since the launch; three Conroes and two Kentsfields. The first E6600 would've suited me fine... :\

Well, my next CPU will be an AMD.

Well, my next CPU will be an AMD.

E4300, E6600, Q6600 and then my 2nd Q6600. Both my Q's take 1.425v (which is a hair under 1.4v real, due to Vdroop)

You gotta admit, the Q6600's have really stood the test of time. If they OC even better on these newer chipsets... they could last us even longer.
