You are not alone, it seems I have this same issue.

If I try to up my 4850 BIOS voltage any higher than the highest RBE gives out of the box (1.158V) I end up having black screen when Windows loads up. The system works fine before Windows load so I could flash back to original BIOS. Iam also using the default BIOS that came with my Asus 4850 and Cat 8.10 .

Here is a pic of the issue, if I go any higher with the voltage, say 1.2V, I get instant black screen with cat 8.10 on Windows load. It takes higher clocks, but becomes unstable.

edit:

Ok I read in another thread that latest RBE versions might not allow you to go past the highest limit of 1.158V with voltage. I think this is causing my issues, but could somebody confirm?

with the RBB 1.14 it is the same problem
but in the RBB 1.14 you have not any voltages, you musst take your own (no max with 1.15...)
you have only the construction max of 1.263v of the card

EDIT:

"Ok I read in another thread that latest RBE versions might not allow you to go past the highest limit of 1.158V with voltage. I think this is causing my issues, but could somebody confirm?"

yes that can be a reason, but i (i think you too) need 1.25V to use 750MHz, with < 1.15V it looks not very good ;)

I recall that you cannot go past 1.2V with BIOS mod, any truth to this? Guess its pencil time if so

Can you not use the older RBE that will allow you to change to 1.2v or are you saying that Cat 8.10 applies a software limitation to the voltage......do you have the same issue with 8.11?

The maximum voltage in rbe is 1.158v,it will not set higher than that.I have my bios set to 1.158v and 680/1050 stock clocks, also my ccc max clocks are 800/1300.I am running cat 8.11 fine with no black screen.

You can try my modded bios if you wish, but it will only work on a referance card.

thx for the bios
but with 1.158V i can use my bios or the stock bios, because the stock bios has also 1.158V :(
all over the stock VCORE (1.158V) don´t work (the same problem with an older RRB version)

With this bios,i can run my card benchable at 750/1200 fine.I dont know what the stock vgpu is,but with my stock bios,i cannot clock it as high as with the modded one. With this bios i have tried 8.7 upto 8.11 drivers with no black screen,i am infact using a 64bit 8.11 driver atm which also works fine.

Here is a pic of my max clocks with my 06 score as proof.

i see you only change the clock info 03 and 09 ?
i change 03, 07, 08 and 09, because these are the 3D settings i know

hm, i would test the VCORE of 1.158V
but i think 750x1200 is too hard, because only with a VCORE of 1.25 my card runs without porblems with a clock of 750x1150
but i would test the VOCRE of 1.158V^^

EDIT:
google.de says that 1.08 is the stock VCORE
hm...that is very good^^

For 3d mode, you only need to change the 03 an 09 clocks.

Stock VCore depends on the card I think, factory overclocked cards may come higher, the 2 cards I am getting stock on 3D at 1.158v but stock clocks are 685mhz.

So what exactly does the modded BIOS give you that acheives the higher clocks if it's not a raise in VGPU? Mine are 1GB cards so I need a different Modded BIOS?

I think on mine the stock vgpu is the lower 1.08v level,so on mine the 1.158v raise means i can run it higher. The max ccc is raised on mine from 700/1100(i think) to 800/1300.

You would need a differant modded bios for you 1gb cards, though i can have a look at the bios's for you if you like.I would only need to raise the ccc limits i guess.

you can extract your bios with GPU´z and than modify with RBB

Thanks, i might take you up on that when they arrive, however, I think the cards come with a higher upper limit already set to 800 and the 3D voltages set at 1.158v, it's the palit 1GB sonic version, I checked the 512MB sonic BIOS (couldnt find a 1gig version on the web) and the option was there in "increased values".

So just to confirm, all that talk across in Xtreme about 1.2v being hardware max and where you could just enter that in the 3D settings was bull? I kinda thought it was suspicious because of 1.2v is not listed in the Vid list I couldnt see how it would stick.

I think if you set it to 1.2,it defaults to 1.08v.

Damn thats not good! I am kinda hoping I might get 750mhz outta my two, running two cards at those speeds would be nice, GTX280 beaters for in my case £80 less.

The pic on post no.13 is my 06 score. It could be higher but even at 4ghz my 6750 is no match for an oc'd E8xxx.I would like an E8400 but i'm not sure whether to wait for lynnfield/p55 or get an E840 soon.
