Now for the ones on here who are constantly upgrading their computers this amount's gonna be pretty large.
I'm just curious about how much you've actually spent and what you think the best investment to your PC has been.
I'm intending to spend £600 on my desktop when I get it and that should be all I spend on it for a while (About a year).
On my current one I've spent around £450, the £50 included in that that went in a 2gb stick of RAM was definitely well spent.

i spent about 800 bucks to build the thing in my system specs. haven't spent anything more then that, besides some isopropyl alcohol which is probably about 50 cents at the most.

I spend 800 and the rest of my PC is from old rig. The highest money part i spend on is hd4870x2 which is kinda like a mistake cuz it runs so freakin hot. I think i needa water soon. But if ur talking about upgrading from dust to now it's about 4000

I thought that was a pounds there for a second lol, that would have to be a hell of a PC or you'd have to buy a new top of the range part for it every day like Fit series seems to do, he needs to post in here lol.

Mine is interesting I guess. I build my PC for about $1100, but only paid $500 myself and my parents paid for the other half as my christmas present. Then I added an extra 2GB of ram, which was under a hundred and then added my monitor which was $280. Then for my birthday, my parents bought me my 4870. I also then had to buy a new power supply when my old one died. Oh I also bought my speakers I almost forgot

So here is my breakdown:

What I have bought: ~$1050
What My Parents have bought: $870

So over the past two years ~$1,920 :D:rolleyes:

I purchased two identical computers this year(one for myself and the other as a present to my brother) which used up all the money I made from repairing and reconditioning a 1969 Gibson SG. If you can imagine-- my system is in my specs and originally had 2x4870 + E8600.

Modding and building has one major downside: Its addictive. I had a stock discounter pc, and it began with a new CPU cooler. Then some more RAM. A new case. Some lights. Better PSU. Ooooh, new CPU. Hey my GPU died, I need a card quick. Damn that card is slow. I need a better. Damn that card also does not satisfy me. I need another. Hey tha mobo sucks. Oooh, look at this, I'll buy this! But that case looks so trashy now. Lemme get a more stylish one. Oh no, its not as I expected.... oh look, theres a new one announced at TPU, WANT! And bought.

Its a pretty noticeable amount of cash I spent from that historical cooler change... over 1000 $ for sure. But my rent is low, and I make good money, so :D And It wont be much to change now... also I sell the stuff I dont need anymore.

And it still was cheaper than that discounter comp... and better :D

id say in the last 2 years i might of been better with a drug habit, ive maybe spent in the region of £4000+ in them 2 years alone and since i began my hobby 7 years ago, well i think ive spent £10k

ill tell you the reasoning behind it, its because i never have enough to build a tottally kick ass system for £1000-£1500 that i would be happy with for a year or 2 so will build one with baisc parts i want then, 2-3 months later, upgrade cpu/mobo/graphics, add extra ram, get a faster hdd, new case, new psu etc etc, as i said its a work in progress and unfortunately for my wallet thats not a good thing, but it wouldnt be my hobby if i had £2k to blow on a rig and then built one id be happy with, what would i do after that, just look at all her yumminess ? :banghead: :pimp: :respect:

^ thats 100% what i have been doing. imagine if id have spent £500 last year, then saved £800 and built something right now - it would be far superior to my current rig. Damn upgrading trend :(

I live in a country where average pay is 200 eur a month and PC component prices are high.
So I tend to build systems where every eur count.
And OC is something of a must.

But the problem is he still think his pc is slow.

I think we all do . . .

hell, I just purchased the components necessary for a water cooling setup, cause running this quad 24/7 at 3.8GHz just doesn't keep me warm anymore . . .

OT - hell, are we looking at within the last year? If so, I've spent about . . . $3000 - and that doesn't include small things here and there.

I'll let y'all try and imagine how much I've spent within the alst 2 years :p

I spent 400 bucks over the summer investing in my old AMD Sempron rig. Buying an 8500gt 1gb of ram + Vista Home premium. Eventually the mobo went bad, so I bought an 8600gts, e2180, and a 2GB stick of Wintec Amp with hopes of overclocking it only to buy a crap 945 board. So I've spent around 700 bucks on my computer.

so about £1405 so far TOTAL but I don't consider the screen or speakers to be 'new' as I bought them between builds haha :(

the main question is: do any of you regret how much you have spent? I know i do from time to time, considering im buying a car / driving lessons soon, but apart from that i love buying new stuff all the time :D nothing beats unboxing a new GPU cooler or processor :D
