Hi all, as I'm sure you'll notice, I'm new here, but from what I've seen so far I've got say I'm impressed by the resources around the place, top job :)

This is the article I'm refering to: http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/107

Before I actually order the card, there was one thing on the acticle I didn't quite understand. For step 1 it says that you should download a Bios for a 9600 PRO that matches your card, but I was wondering, how do you find out which ones match your card? And also, it's the 9550 that the Bios should match isn't it?

Thanks for any help you can give :)

You can try BIOS from different manufacturers.. the important things to take note are listed below..

1. Make sure your card can handle the clock speed of the BIOS..
2. Make sure the RAM size fits your card..
3. Make sure you've got the right version.. 64-bit cards should only use 64-bit (or more commonly called as "SE") BIOSes.. the same applies to 128-bit versions and others..

is there any way you can see if the bios you're downloading is for 64 bit or 128 bit cards apart from the 'SE' thing?
I know the card I'm getting is 128, and I thought all 9600PROs were 128 as well, correct me if I'm wrond though.

yeah i think they are, it's also important that the make of ram matches.

is it vital that the memory type is the same?

Hi all, I am just a new user and new to those high end graphic cards.
I have a few questions and things to say but i don't know how to create a new one.

1) Ati Tool works well (version 0.0.22) on my Powercolor 9600Pro 256MB 128Bit

2) A gold star for the Tool developer(s) and can i ask that:
2a) Are you 1 of the Ati driver developers?
2b) What program language you use to write this tool?

3) Am I right that the clock lock is a bit mask -> in software rather hardware (Ati 9600 or R350 chip)

4) Does Powercolor 9600Pro 256MB have Temperature Monitor?

5) What is the max. clocks that some1 can set? Mine is 450/220 without any Atifacts.

6) Is it worth to get 9800Pro 128MB compare to 9600Pro which it would cost 30-40% more than 9600Pro)?

7) Faster clock speed, warmer component.
7a) 9600XT has a max clock speed of 500/300 and it's the same chip as my 9600Pro. So i overclock my 9600Pro to that clock but why the GPU reset and does work if i set to that level
7b) Some1 said the card will have a shorten life time. Why is that since the chip is design to run 500/300. And also i see the 9600XT but different brand name, and they have a smaller fan than mine (if heat release is the thing caused that short life?)

Thanks
