Knowlegde needed. Please give motherboard advice.

Ok here is the deal.

I am parting out my system and already sold 6 Gb of ram and pending sale on my motherboard.
I just ordered these http://www.komplett.nl/k/ki.aspx?sku=360396. I read reviews that they will go up to 1200mhz.(Fingers crossed)

Now Fit has pointed me in the direction of the Asus P5Q series. Because according to him, they are great for overclocking. I was looking at the P5Q Pro or the P5Q SE.
But like you all know there is so much nice stuff to get out there that i don't really know what to get anymore. :ohwell:

I would like to have SLI or Crossfire support. Because i don't have a new card yet this will decide my choice between ATI and Nvidia. I must say i am getting more and more attracted to ATI because they still have the superior image quality.

Also PC 9600 support. And 1600Mhz FSB.

Please share your thoughts and help me get a great board.

DFI DK X48-T2RS. Great reviews on it and price doesn’t seem to be that bad.

Well it has to be a little bit in the price segment of the P5Q. And remember i live in Holland so the prices are in €.

Btw that DFI board looks awesome. But correct me if i am wrong. Don't the DFI boards have high failure rate. I do want a solid board.

^ not sure if they've sorted out the DFI X48 CF problems...this is why I 'downgraded' to a DFI P45

it's stable with decent memory and was only £100

Yeah. That DFI P45 is nice to.
How are the bios functions on that board. And does it support PC 9600 ram?

Only if you dont know what you are doing or you get too greedy.

I have an nF4 Ultra-D still going strong with a Opty 165 on it. My DFI x38 was a great board too. Ive since sold it. Didnt like my quad for overclocking. DFI will forever be my favorite brand board.

DFI is kinda hard to get over here. Maybe i will try my luck on Ebay.
I just saw a DFI P45 for €150. :cool:

But like i said. I want a board with a good bios. I have read in reviews that the new Asus bords have very good features.
Can i assume the same for DFI?

I think fit is right about a P45. It's the right chipset for you. I have P5Q Pro and it's quite nice for OC. I'd steer clear of the Asus SE boards, though. Word is that they have a high failure rate. Gigabyte also makes very good boards that seem to clock a bit higher than Asus.

I would go for DFI. And can`t tell you much only STAY AWAY OF MSI P45 series. I see you are very exited about memory overclocking if you take MSI P45 board you will have a lots of unsolving memory related problems.

Ok well i am trying to make a choice between the MSI P45 Neo2 FR and the Asus P5Q pro.
The board i sold was the P35 Platinum. And i must say it was the best board i ever had.
So that is why i am considering the MSI P45. Board has lots of oc options and gets great reviews.
So does anyone have a reason why i should get the P5Q Pro?

Or why not to get the MSI board.

Also i sold my 9600 GT. I don't have the funds yet to get a 3870X2 or a 4870
So i was thinking to get a 3870 or maybe a 4850. And get one for Crossfire later this month.
Any thought on which card and brand?

+4 for DFI, either P45 or X48, i just got myself a DK X48-T2RSB Plus and its amazing. Rock solid stable just like my old Gigabyte, plethora of BIOS options, it really is a tweakers paradise, it'll take me months to explore!!! But evrerything works right off the bat on Auto, in fact most settings i left on Auto, havent overclocked yet just want to burn it in for a couple of weeks. BTW, Crossfire was fixed withe latest BIOS on X48 mobos to my knowledge.

DFI hands down dude.
Its the best mobo for oc-ing.
All solid capacitor,8 phase pwm,genie bios (my old DFI LanParty sli-dr).
DFI all the way..
But if youre a msi fan,I would choose MSI X48C platinum.

Maybe if you read above^^^^^^

You can see that i am making a choice between the MSI P46 Neo2 FR and the Asus P5Q Pro board.
I wish i had some more to spend on it but i don't, so i can't be buying those boards you recommend. I only have about €130 for a new mobo.
And i must ad to it that DFI boards are sold in every hardware shop over here. And they are very expensive to if you can find one. The cheapest DFI P45 that i could find was €175 with shipping.

I'd do a little more research on the memory, I was getting that the 4gig dominator kit wasn't going much above 1120 or so, and saw many forum posts about high failure rate. It's the reason I went with mushkin ascent. Upto 1155 at 2.0v, imagine what 2.2v could do!
