Hey guys, I've been using Limewire for a while now with no major virus problems, sure small ones, but all cleanable. Now I've got 2 new ones, 1 that creates B.exe in the C:\ directory every time I start up, and another that makes limewire start up every time I close it. What I hate most is the fact that programs love to find the offspring of original virusses (B.exe) and "delete" them, but never the ORIGINAL one, like they need a reason for you to use antivirus or something. Please PLEASE PLEASE don't tell me to download "hackthis" or whatever the dumbass program is, I don't need to send someone a note of every file on my computer for them to analyze and give me a generic answer of what to do to delete the file. So whoever HAS fixed the problem of restarting Limewire and the virus that makes B.exe, please tell me.

Oh and by the way, just a little thought about limewire, whoever the mo********** b********* f***** is who is corrupting every file people are nice enough to share on limewire with their own little 851.7kb/220kb/5??kb files I would like to find the addresses of and beat them to bloody pulps.

u live an u learn yes...once u learn what NOT to download u'll b in much better shape..its all about getting a smell for them dang viruses;) i can suggest a couple of things..first check out one of the free web based virus cleaning things...google ur virus and look for a cure...in spite of ur disdain for hijackthis run it and see if it finds it...get a good spyware removal app like pest patrol - update it, and that will probably find a load of stuff to. just for the heck of it do a search on ur pc for B.exe or whatever it is and whichever instance u find of it rename the extention to somthing else then reboot - that might kill it if its simple. if all that produces no results then ur best bet is to back up all ur files, bookmarks, and adresses and reformat....i was in ur position several years ago and mad as hell at the kiddie virus testers on kazaa..now, i still get any file i want or can think of and havent had a virus in a couple of years. its all about experience my young padawan...and asking for help relating to ur pirating isnt proper in a technical forum:D try a torrentsite forum for a warmer welcome.

What did you download before you got the virus because windows media player creates a huge weakspot in audio so hackers can virus wav and mp3 tracks now. A thing to try might be reinstalling Limewire because you will still have all of your filesharing downloads in the shared folder. Maybe a good run of norton should clean this up or whatever you use. Try lots of different antivirus programs as many find different things. Good luck and let me know how you get on.

Oh I know when there's a virus, I've been using p-to-p programs since 8th grade, that's over 5 years now. When I want to be careful, I'll never run into a virus, especially the easy-to-find-but-really-annoying fixed size files (851.7kb most popular). But sometimes I'm desperate to download a file and even though it looks like it could be a virus I'll take a chance, plus I've got spyware doctor, registry mechanic, xoftspyse, mcaffee virus scan, prevx 1, stopzilla, and ad-aware SE professional on this computer, and NONE of them are finding these 2 virus's.

And I already reinstalled limewire, started in safemode and tried a bunch of things, and EVEN checked every single program running in task manager and closed every single one one-by-one to find the limewire restarter, and of course that didn't work because some of them restart themselves. The only thing that's helped me is when I just stop every running program except for system programs, which kind of sucks if I wanna do something productive. Obviously I ran a scan of ALLLLLLL my anti-ad/spy/virus programs and none of them found anything.

I agree, you really need to be educated. I do know how however, just because people have "problems" with things doesn't mean they don't know how to use it. I probably know more than 99.9% of limewire users, and just as much (or possibly more for those of you who don't use limewire anymore) as all you guys who use limewire. It's like telling a guy who burned out his ultra-overclocked 7ghz Pentium 4 processor that "you need to know a lot about overclocking to overclock safely", uhhh I think he knows plenty on how to overclock processors. I fixed the problem though. AVG Antivirus and XoftspySE are the 2 best programs ever.
