depends on a few things.

I would imagine that its pretty hot in sri lanka. And if you have bad case ventilation then those figures sound about right. it should NEVER go above 65c though. the CPU should start throttling down once it passes that stage.

if you cannot get hold of a cheap aftermarket cooler then try and tidy up the wiring a little. And get hold of a 120mm fan from somewhere and stick it in there.

Where are the fans at the moment in the case?? Is there one on the back blowing out??

Well, if you want to overclock you should get a case with fans, or mod your own.

Also, buy an aftermarket cooler, tuniq tower or something. Between the cooler and the cpu put a good compound, like AS5.

I won't damage your cpu but intel cpu's will lower their speed and voltage if they get to hot so if you are sitting up in the 65c range then chances are the cpu is going to slow down. :( which you don't want.

It sounds as if your case has only the psu fan pulling air out of there. You need to have an intake fan and an exhaust fan. MINIMUM!!! especially where you live.

If the case cannot take an intake fan at the front just cut a whole in the side panel over top of nb h/sink. and mount one there blowing in.

Then fit another exhaust fan on rear of case blowing out. there should be a spare spot there. It may be an 80mm spot but its better than nothing.

I think this will make a huge difference. :)

No game or application will be stressing the CPU as small fft's in prime95, so you won't be damaging your cpu because it will always be remaining under 65 degrees. Technically speaking you could leave everything as it is. If you want to go really cheap, if you notice ambient temperature is too warm check the cpu temperature and if it's above 60 just leave the side of your case open and direct the air from a normal house-fan into the case. :)

Even better, try and mount the fan to the side panel:rockout:

Check your bios for any settings to manually control the CPU fan....set it on max speed If possible.

If your not OCing then you should be fine....as mentioned earlier...no standard app or game will stress your CPU like Prime...so don't sweat it.

House fan should be your fallback plan though.

Hope it helps. :)

what 65c isnt hot, iirc they have a tjmax of 100c, although YES it is high for stock, but in no way will it damage the cpu running prime at 100% load and 65c.

i would however invest in some arctic silver 5, simple cheap effective way of dropping temps, could even be as much as 8-10c compared to crappy generic thermal compound

Thermal throttling wont happen on a 45nm CPU untill around the 100*C range. not that I advise it but have a look at unclewebs realtemp info!

It's normal for a stock cooler. At those temps life on the cpu is pretty much shortened. Will it cause damage? Yes but at a very low chance, but to stay on a safe side buy a decent cpu cooler and ur fine,

I would definately fit whatever fans you can and a better CPU cooler. Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 is perhaps the best of the cheap CPU coolers if cost is a problem. Case doesn't have to be expensive, but space for air to flow, and places to mounts fans is important. Try to mount at least one exhaust fan and one intake fan. Prefer to put the intake fan at the front, or if not then side. Try to get fans that move lots of air (look at the CFM ratings - get high ones.)

See if you can tidy up the cables etc inside if they are blocking air flow. Run with side off case until you have fans.
