Hello all,

Since the launch of my computer, I've noticed various spots appear on my screen. Any clues to what it could be?

I've checked the connections and I've tried a diffrent monitor. I'm pretty sure the drivers are all up to date due to me downloading them of the ATI website. I've also changed the resolution and refresh rate. But unfortunatly, my screen only allows me to have the resolution: 640 x *** and 1024 x ** (I think)

The spots don't last on the screen, they remove themself after you but something over it (EG - A box).

Its a brand new graphics card so It shouldn't be happening unless I have some settings wrong.

Brand new doesn't mean it can't be broken. DOA items aren't exactly rare. Can you test with a different card?

Also, do the dots appear in both 2D and 3D mode? Can you make a screenshot/photo of them?

Wasley, after all you have gone though, now you might have a defective Graphics Card...man you are one unlucky dude.

But anyway, I would try with a different card if you can. Also, what monitor are you using? It seems odd that you can only select 1024x768 unless you are using an older monitor, or small LCD.

is it a CRT or LCD, and has is this monitor ever done this before? or is it new, if new and LCD could be a sad case of stuck pixels.

Well - Its a crap monitor for a start. Got it from asda (walmart). Its a TV & PC Monitor. Really, I should buy a new one.

I'll try print screening them when I see them. Its a bit werid;
If I put a box over the dots (EG - IE), and then close the box - the spots are removed from the desktop....?!?!

sounds like graphics artifacting.
If they appear when connected to another monitor, get the video card replaced.

A friend on mine had this problem. It ended up being the video card. The problem actually got worse until the card actually died. RMA time :(

I'll stick a note on the Ebuyer forum. See If I can get it resolved.

Could it be a driver error....?

what drivers are you running cat 8.11's ? you could try uninstalling them and reinstalling 8.10s see if that helps, also download atitool and scan for errors, if its artifacting on the desktop then doing a scan atitool should produce similar results and if it does, you need a new card, shouldnt be too bad cause its under warranty from ebuyer for the first year, normally if they produce a fault within that year ebuyer will test them themselves and if faulty send another one out
