Logitech G9, worth while upgrade over my Diamondback?

Right, heres my dilema. I have been told im allowed X ammount of money for christmas, so I have ordered a few things so far and I am £70 short. Now, i love my Razer, however i have noticed my hands a bit too big for it, plus those G9's do look nice.

Im asking for personal opinions on the G9, but also other recommendations!

Thanks! :toast:

Well - its a Logitech - cant go wrong with one of them - you can leave those bitches in boiling hot oil for a week with some cod & chips & they'd still work. I dont think the chips & cod would survive in hot oil that long though. speaking of which a Cod catching fire is a pretty big hazard - kids dont try this at home.

I have been using the G9 for approx 6 months and in my opinion it is the best mouse that I have used. It is very comfortable for use (though not the best looking mouse), it has excellent feel to it and is very responsive, the interchangeable grips are ok though I suspect like most I only use one and the other in on a shelf in my room. I use the wide grip by the way. The weights are good as well as I like a heavy mouse so I just filled up the tray with all the heavy ones. After having used the MX510 then the G5 and now the G9 it is the better mouse by far in my opinion.

I was checking out mice a while ago and I really liked the G9 but for some reason the G5 felt a lot more comfortable to me and that is what I went with. I really like checking out mice in person so I went down to Best Buy, maybe they have a similar store there.

It is not worth the time to upgrade to it. I would stick with your Diamondback.

I have the G9 and I absolutely love it. I upgraded to it after my G5 started having problems, and it's definitely the best mouse I've ever used. Some people don't like how it looks, but I think it looks fine.

The only problem with it is I use the Wide Load Grip, and after a few months of heavy usage, the rubber skin on it starts to peel off. It eventually got so bad that I needed a replacement. But all it took was a few emails with tech support and they sent me a new one.

It is only a worthwhile upgrade if the ergonomics of the G9 suits your hand better than that of the Diamondbacks, or if you need some of the driver features that the Logitech has over the Diamondback. The best performing gaming mouse from Logitech is still the MX518 @ 1000 Hz polling rate.

Those MX518's do look nice, it just struck me that the G9 looked nice and wide - my hand completely covers this diamondback, and it gets a bit uncomfortable like.

I have a saitek Cyborg PM42 gaming mouse - it looked great & it kicks ass but last time i used it - the software used to tune up all the DPI settings & key assigns was literally looked like it was drawn on a peice of paper with a kids crayola - I didnt mind that so much but asside from being a bitch to configure & get it working in games, It took me a while to find out how to work it because the interface really doesnt tell you f**k all. plus when you do manage to get it working there is mass confusion (for me) about how the DPI profile changes - the red LED on the PM42 mouse changes colour to signify DPI mode change but you dunno if the profile switches 1,2,3-1 & so on....

Ive used it for 2 weeks then i aint touched it since. much prefer my Logitech G7 as the software is simple as shootin fish in a barrel to use & u get the LED's on the mouse to show you which DPI Profile its switching to.

I personally love my mx518.

That said, I am adamant that a mouse is most likely the one piece of hardware where opinions of others users are nearly worthless due to how they fit your hand, how they respond to how you work, etc. Trial and error is probably the only way to get a true feel for what you like.
