the third thing i learned is that cpu silicone cores are incredably fragile they do NOT hold up as well as i thought...

Thats odd because it took a 2 ton bus for me to break my old sempies core.

nope i can pull it apart with my fingures but remember some of the older cores have like enamel over them so theiy werent the silicone surface.

Yeah that might be true since it didnt come with a ihs ... or you have the finger strength of a bus.

My friend just got his hands on a Q6400 ES, I'll drop him an email and see if he is going to use it, or get rid of it. I'm sure, if he is going to get rid of it, he'll give me a good price, which means you will get a good price. :)

I dont care lol

to me its like saying: I'l trade you my Reliant Robin for your $500.000 Farrari.

im not being rude btw im just suprised to see someone put one up for trade the way you did

You'd be surprised, the A8N32-SLI was probably about the best Socket 939 board around, and there are still a lot of people running older equipment that refuse to give up on DDR. They go for about $100 shipped these days. Throw in the AM2 6400+, and that would actually be a pretty fair trade for a used Q6600.

Thats odd because it took a 2 ton bus for me to break my old sempies core.

They are like glass, it can be strong in one direction, but extremely weak in another. So pushing down on it, like what happens when I bus drives over it, is less likely to break it than pulling on it.

dam man, did your quad just crap out? haha how come you didn't try rma? and i remember some people were taking of ihs without damage(at least visually) to the chip, they inserted a razor in each corner of the ihs and the heated it till the pcb/chip just fell off of the ihs, htough they were using older celerons haha

thats a killer 939 board, if someone were to buy it on ebay they'd pay lottsa mullah for it.

Im not for 1 second saying its not. & of course people would pay a fair amount of $$$ for it because for a long time its been gettin harder & harder to find 939 stuff on places such as ebay - For 'me' is hard to get as a lot of the sellers are ether from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China or the US & because I dont do international orders.

as for Hong Kong - Ive been to most of the 'well known' spots where its literally 4floors of nothing but computer hardware & consumables. - I could build you a house out of 100CD blank DVD spindle packs but I never seen no A8N32 Deluxe

I know its a kick ass board, im one of the people still running one ;) - I thought DFI made the best 939 boards?? lol

DFI made some bad ass boards too, that is why I said "about". It really depended on who you talk to on the issue.

And I still run one also, see rig3 in my sig.:toast: I just wish the memory dividers weren't so screwed up...

yeah - im still on a pretty tight budget hence no new graphics card & fancy kung fu shit.

but i should think with the E8500 running at 4Ghz+ my 8800GTS should really start to come alive.

if i didnt already spend over $293 on guitar pickups just maybe i woulda considerd a Ati 4870

Wow... I thought it was burnt lol, but reading the thread it's borken by pulling off the ihs.. Does every proccy have their IHS soldered? I seen some used only some thermal paste of some sort. Good luck with the proccy hunt sol. :D

Hm... I guess you haven't read/seen about the C2D's having the IHS soldered on to the cores itself. I remember reading on TPU somewhere (or maybe it was [H]?) but people found out that they were soldered on the hard way just a few days after the C2D's were released.

Why processor companies solder their cores to the IHS?

I feel your pain. I recently broke a gigabyte p35 ds3l because I rushed a processor swap and accidentaly broke/bent several of the pins, I don't think i can RMA it either :(

Did the same thing and gigabyte took it back.

I dont know how you bent yours tho. Mine wasnt my fault as the CPU was installed correctly (not a rush job) and they still managed to bend.

On topic, wd solaris . Gotta love the destruction :D

Sorry off topic but what did you say to gigabyte to allow you the RMA? Just "I installed the cpu correctly and the pins bent"?
