It appears that G13 won't be the only one new gaming keyboard released this year by Logitech. A pre-production sample of what's to be named Logitech G18 was also spotted sitting next to a G13 by our colleagues at Engadget China. For now we can gather information only from a single picture. There you see a rather standard keyboard design, lots of programmable G keys and other extra keys plus what's maybe the best part of this keyboard - a new color LCD display. Now we wait for the press release.

I hope this lives up to the G15 rev1 and especially hope that wrist-rest is removable. I'm also curious about the media keys. I really like the position and size of them on the G15, but they look so tiny in that pic, and I hate the idea of having them on the edges.

Probably the main things that will influence whether or not I want this is compatibility with 3rd-party G15 apps, usefulness of new 1st and 3rd-party apps, and other things related to the LCD such as resolution, size, etc.

With the G13 gameboard, you’ll also get backlit keys that help you easily locate the right key in low-light conditions or lights-out play. And you can select from hundreds of available backlight colors, so your gameboard looks just the way you want it.

I wouldnt doubt they implemented the same backlit feature on the G18.
On the Logitech forums a lot of ppl complained about the rv2 orange lights.
and if you havent already seen this

I'm not sure if I'm liking the look of the G18.. its something about those triangly bits on the LCD.. >>
I have to say though, I was pretty disappointed with the durability of the original G15 (blue)
I barely thrashed mine and it broke pretty quickly (under a year)
Shame the reclusa looks like such a pos too, since the M$ keyboard offerings (IMO) are much more durable. ive thrashed my plain digi media KB for ages now and it just wont break :D
If logitech can take a page from microsoft on durability, it'd go for it for sure.

I wish my Saitek Cyborg had blue LED's but I must say the green is extremely easy to read in the dark compared to the blue on the Eclipse II.

I would get this keyboard if it had some other LED color options. Otherwise I don't see any real good reason to upgrade.

lol, I bet a lot of people are like that. I've tried both having wire and wireless on gaming, and with this keyboard I have, the $100 one, it doesn't have the change you may get if you spent $30 on a wireless keyboard. The Lag really isn't there on this keyboard. My bios even likes it.. lol

What is that color LCD used for, to watch videos while gaming? Despite that that would probably take it to $200 or so it would be cool if that would happen. Then on the other hand, I'm kinda like the G13 a bit better if it's handy enough for gaming depending on how bind-happy I am. Pretty LCD....

I hate wireless things :( my mouse lags like crap at times even though its pretty much 10 inches from the reciever thingy.

The mouse I do have as only wired. There is a difference with mouse, but not so much with wireless keyboards from what I can see. If you spend money on a thing, then it will give you what it is needed, but if you don't.. It's going to be poo.. The wireless keyboard/ mouse combo, I have also has a 10in extention usb cable, so i can plug the Bluetooth usb there and be all good on the distance.

I think I would find all that stuff on those keyboards too distracting. It looks awfully good though.

According to that one guys post, you should be able to change the color of the LEDs to what you want.

I have a $100 Microsoft wireless desktop and the wireless keyboard sucks horribly for gaming. Thats with brand new batteries and the reciever right up on the thing. I use it for my server basicaly now.

This G18 if the LEDs can change colors like mentioned :respect:

I'll probably stick to my G15 Rev2. I can't really see the point of the colour LCD. The one on the G15 is awesome, can see songs on WMP in game and can see whos talking on vent...thats all I need :).

I do mainly play FPS games though, so the extra media keys are just a waste of space to me.

Also orange is a lot better than blue IMO. My entire room has blue LED lights; my computer and the matx. Yet the keyboard (and new razer krait mouse) are orange / yellow. They stand out and look the best in the room (makes me wanna change my blue LEDs to red :p)
