okay so here is the deal guys

i was handed a laptop by a friend of mine, and was told, i can not charge the thing...

so after exploration because of lack of any details i found out that the power jack on the laptop is busted, i have a pic of it, and basically what it is, is the prong in it cracked but it looks like it can be repaired with some sotering and some super glue

my question is, would it be advisable to do something like this, or could i wind up ruining the thing even more, its not under warranty.. or at least he was unsure if it was, i have the thing apart found a nice video on youtube on how to take it apart luckily

simple question of is it worth it to try and to the repair

If you cannot charge it...then it has no use, so trying to fix it seems to me a good choice.

I would try to fix it. It's worthless as it stands, so you have very little to loose.

Not charge, does this mean it won't go on at all or does it work fine with the adapter connected?

If it does work with the adapter I'd say the connector isn't the cause, battery issues are very common with laptops, odds are the battery is simply dead. It isn't unheard of that the motherboard itself is defective (the whole charging stuff is on it).

If it doesn't work at all, the connector could very well be the issue, in that case you've got nothing to lose.
