PCI Expansion System

They are used with Pro Tools and Avid made by Magma but they will work for just adding a crap ton of PCI slots to a computer.

I would love this for my workstation, use all my old legacy hardware on these new motherboards with only one or two PCI slots.

Best part is I found there are some that go from a PCI-E card to PCI not just PCI to PCI.

I believe they make one.

Though I want to get THIS to go with the above product and have a 1x PCI-E breakout to 13 regular PCI slots. Oooo.

I've seen them before, expensive stuff. Plus 133MB/s for 13 devices, that's not that great. It makes more sense with higher speed buses like PCI-X or PCI-e.

Basically for me the deal is, I want a high power do everything workstation.

I want my sound card, tv tuner, scsi card for my film scanner, raid card, multiple video cards, etc. All in one computer. It's just not possible without something like that.

But fit for purpose.

These things are not for graphics or RAID but:

Multiple CCTV inputs
Lab control and IEEE
Miltiple ISDN cards for running a PC based PBX (phone system). See asterisk as an example

Like it has been said, you are taking one of those slots and splitting it up among the expansion system. So, it would be PCI-Ex 1x bandwidth divided by how many devices it is hosting. Yes, it can get the job done, but I wouldn't expect miracles in terms of gaming cards or whatnot.

USB > SCSI for your film scanner, USB TV tuner, x2 videocard. That leaves you with three whole expansion cards, w00t.

Actually though for me, my video card block most of my slots (3), if I got a second I'd only have one free PCI.

I suppose I could go water though.
