Hi guys,

I might be able to get one of these little babies since my HD4850 GS went to Gainward for RMA and came in exactly the same way when she left my hands... DAMAGED... they didn't fix it, and now the shop says they might be able to trade my card for a new one, since i don't want more business with Gainward i might be able to get one of these:

Zotac 9800GTX+ 1G
Gigabyte 9800GTX+ 1G

Asus EAH 4850 Extreme 1G
Powercolor 4850 PCS+ 1G

thanks guys

Zotac 9800GTX has reference cooler and gigabyte has a cooled designed by zalman, but i noticed something weird, the Rams are NAKED just like my HD4850 GS  and i experienced A LOT of problems due to that :shadedshu

who did you rma too.

and if they say they were going to trade then most likely the powercolor would be a good one since it covers mosfets and dram I belive.

Didn't realize the GTX's didn't cover the dram.

The asus one should cover mostfets and dram as well.

I'd recommend the Asus 4850, but if you're a fan of the Green Team, get the Gigabyte 9800GTX+.

i sent to the shop, shop sent to Gainward, one month after the shop received it from gainward and sent me back my card, but it was exactly the same, same problem... :shadedshu

You don't think Zotac would be a better option? in terms of performance and "time of life" ? i heard Nvidias underclock rams while in idle, that saves pretty much the rams, ATIs doesn't make that, they are allways in full speed, isn't that something i should care about?

Which one covers your mosfets and dram because thats the one you will want to get. Which is most likely the powercolor one.

I think it would make a difference but at the same time I feel it's not going to be much of one.

Look 4850 and GTX+ are about the same very close to each other in benchies. ATI has powerplay which just clocks down the card when not gaming saving power. Nvidia probably implemented a similar feature to saver power.

And like I said you should look into something that covers the mosfets and Dram.

only being familiar with ATI I would suggest the powercolor since it covers mosfets and dram.

Asus only covers dram

The zotac also covers mosfets and dram so its either the zotac or powercolor. Just do eeny meenie miny moe or something for the choice.

For most people (and their rigs) it really doesn't matter. They are both very close in performance. About the only difference you might see is if the game is very optimized for one card type or the other.

They will both perform about the same just different clocks, they also carry 1gb of memory there is not too much you can ask for unless you decide to up to the 4850x2 or 4870....

or you can look at reviews on newegg and that should be about it.

Go 4850. If you like AA you can get 4x AA with no performance hit in most games. That's why I love mine :)

Im thinking about the future of it, it isn't a good thing to have the mems clocked to max Mhz 24/7 even in idle, they are always "suffering" while Nvidia cards just underclock them , isn't that something to have in mind?

I have no idea what you're talking about

Nvidia underclocks Core Mhz and RAM Mhz while in idle

ATi underclocks Core Mhz only

aint that a negative point to HD4850 ? i want it to live some time, and i play pretty much a lot per day ;)

Hmmm for the ATI it should have 3d mode and 2d mode. you would notice these in catalyst under the overdrive option.
