My computer is about to turn 2. and im kinda thinking about building another computer. Ive been running an AM2 rig for 2 years now. so i want to move over to a 775 rig. I figure $170 is going to be enough to get me a solid base to my computer. I do not OC at all..period lol. I need atleast 8gb ram support. but in todays market seems to be a industry standard. However 16gb support is prefered. I play alot of games. and im interested in a possible crossfire setup. I do plan to go with a quad core CPU but not emediatley. in due time. So, let me know whats out there. im about a year behind the times lol

Another vote for the P5Q series. DFI has some nice boards, check these out

DDR3 baby: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136062

DDR2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136050

Just curious what application you have that runs 2GB of ram? No game I've ever played uses more than a full gig, and even with Visa running a whole backlog of programs I've never touched all 4gigs of my ram. I guess I find it hard to see why a stipulation on a mother board is 8GB support a must, 16GB's preferred.

my computer is a gaming computer that also has 1 or more virtual machines running 24/7. ram is a must cant survive on less than 4gbs. 8gbs is pretty well the least id be using.

I know you don't like OCing but I strongly suggest that you go with the Q6600 and push it to 3gig. It will surely :nutkick: the Q8200 :rockout:

Both procs are the same price and the Q6600 has 8mb cache while the Q8200 has only 4mb

OCing is very very easy with a p5q. Just change the bus speed to 333 from 266 and Voila !

yes shadow i have seen your thread. and actually am keeping it in the back of my head.

i posted the 8200 because it has a 1333 FSB.. the 6600 has a 1066. the motherboard supports a 1333/1600. and like i said im not much for ocing. have no clue how to do it dont care to learn. and buying that cpu would require it. unless im in some way mistaken

I have a p5q pro and OCing in it is very easy, trust me. The one on my sig is my first build and I'm very happy that i went with the q6600.

All of us TPU will help you through OCing your chip :toast:

Just ask anything you want to know. once you start overclocking, you'll probably get addicted to it :D

Its not even a fear of overclocking. im by nature eager to learn new things. and not afraid to learn new things and i learn by doing. But when it comes to overclocking. thats just not something that interests me at all.
