Hi,
i want to buy a new set of RAM to overclock my Q6600. My question is which has higher potential of overclocking 800 or 1066 mhz. Im thinking about Reaper series form OCZ for example
DDR2 2x2048MB PC-800 OCZ Reaper EPP CL4 4-4-15 (OCZ2RPR800C44GK)
or
DDR2 2x2048MB PC-1066 OCZ Reaper EPP CL5 (OCZ2RPR10664GK)

ATM i own four sticks of OCZ reaper 1066 thats why i want to change to 2x2048.

I'm not used to OCZ as a brand so i'm opened to any other suggestions as long as they are in similar price range as 1066 reapers.

1066 will have higher OC potential. How far can you clock your current RAM?

1066Mhz sticks will give you alot more overclocking options and dividers to use. I have some of those 1066Mhz reapers and ive had them at over 1200Mhz. The 800's will most likely top out around 1000Mhz.

1066 kit hands down

@buggalugs
I have the 800mhz CL4 kit, you would be surprised. Wish I had the screenshot to back this up but I have had mine up to 545(1090mhz) 5-5-5-18.

its not overclocked atm. i remember that with 2 sticks i got somewhere near 1180 (didn't want to push them harder), but with 4 sticks i can't get to 1000 (possible mobo limitations?). thats why i want to replace them with 2x2gb. hopefully it will help.
any other brand recommendations or should i stay with OCZ?

I'm biased about OCZ, but another brand to look into is G.Skill. Also, you needed to up your northbridge voltage. Have you tried that out?

actually no, i'm not experienced overclocker so i dont dig very deep while OCing (i must admit i try to avoid some opitions just for safety because i cant afford buying new parts every time i screw something up). with two sticks i was able to reach higher speeds without setting higher voltage on NB.

Yeah, definitely try that out. Those sticks should hit close 1200mhz. I have my NB set for 1.5v but I also have a fan blowing acrossed both the ram and the nb heatsink. Chipset never goes above 44C.

OK thanks, i will try to overclock with 4 sticks and NB voltage raised, see what happens and then buy new RAM
