3d '06 Question

Ok, so I eventually ran 3d '06 with my 4850 X2, overclocked it to 700/ 1100 temps are fine under load. I got an unamazing 13058, my 8800gts 512 managed over 15k overclocked, whats going on, is the crossfire not working properly??

btw, it ran at standard res.

Properly cleaned nvidia drivers?
Got latest ati drivers?

Your score is just 1000-1500 over what I get with a 3870

So that shouldn't be right.

definetly a software problem, you shouldnt have less then 16 000min, make u clean out all video card drivers and then reinstall your 4850x2.

Could be drivers, do you have Catalyst AI enabled? Standard or Advanced?

Could be the overclock on your cards also...I noticed on mine that if i pushed the overclock to far my score got worst!! Dont know the clocks for ATI to well so not sure though might just be your drivers!!

Oooh you know, ATi doesn't officially support the 4850x2. It's definitely drivers ...

You will have to get the drivers from Sapphire's site, if you haven't here is the link:

Apart from the driver thing, is Crossfire enabled in CCC, I get almost 24,000 in 2006 for my 2 seperate HD4850's (albeit both clocked at 775mhz) so that sounds like even less than a single!

Cheers for the replys folks.
This machine has only had ATI in it(fresh build) using cat 8.12 hotfix drivers, used DC to remove all old drivers. I will try again with the saphire ones though just to make sure.

Will update once i'm done.

Crossfire is enables and I haven't touched or played with any settings.

ok

downloaded the drivers from the saphire site, they don't work, it says that there is an issue with CCC and it can't open. Tried it twice with the same outcome.

This is how I done it just incase you ask :eek:

uninstalled old drivers, reboot into safemode DC, reboot install driver.

Downloading the 8.12 hotfix again and trying those.

AAargh about to give up on ATI, feel like going back to Nvidia :mad:

install or re-install the .NETS from microsft ..The CCC needs them to run.

I don't think that there are any technical problems. You neglected to mention what resolution you are running it at. I'm guessing it was the default 1280x1024. At that resolution, there isn't much of a score difference between any of the mid to high level cards. You'll need to run it at 19x12 or more to see the higher end cards take a big lead over the others.

wow thats horrible i'd rma that card m8 something is wrong, I'm willing to bet one of the cores is shot it happened to me with my first 3870X2

Are you running Vista? Give us a quick Vantage run ... This will help confirm if its a crossfire issue or just 3dM06.

Calling Sapphire is useless. trust me.

Just go here http://www.vgaforum.com/ This was the Sapphire forum until Sapphire removed the link from their main site. Contacting Sapphire support is useless unless you need to RMA.

Can you try running ATiTool or FurMark wile keeping an eye on your clock speeds in GPU-Z? I think you've got a recovery kicking in or something...

It ramps up and dies back down, no issues there.
