Well thanks a million again guys :) i unlocked the 16 pipes and got the DNA drivers and now my fps in counter strike source has gone from a solid 60 to a whopping 120-130 :rockout:
Dolf, should i have used the realto? and if so is thier any harm in running the disk again and using realto this time?

Perform a cold boot. The CD uses a small portion of your system RAM to copy files to and move things around etc... And as you performed a warm boot the temporary drive was still left in place as there was still voltage supplied to the RAM.

For a cold boot shut down the computer for at least 30 seconds to allow for any static data still left in the systems main memory (RAM) to clear.

in other words, a cold boot is a hard reboot, use the power button or shut down and shut down, after u see everything not spin, power up... thats a hard boot ;)

No, a hard shutdown is holding the power off button to shut down a computer. I have never heard of a hard reboot.

Again, a cold boot is from a shutdown or off state, not a reboot, that is called a warm boot, as the CMOS doesn't have to be called again, it is already loaded and some residential data will still reside in volatile RAM.

Ok thanks, a few more graphics card related question if you dont mind :)
1. What is the max safe tempature for my graphics card to be at? (AGP x800GTO)
2. Is there any way to make my gfx card start up with the fans at 100%? they are currently at 52%
3.steevo, do you know if i should have used the realto installation from the cd image? (see the page before if you have no idea what i am talking about) i am not sure exactly what it does, does it like emulate a PCI-e version of the card? Anyway, if you can explian what it is and let me know if i can do it again but this time installing the realto thing. thanks

max temp supported is 125 degrees but i reccomend u keep it under 80. u dont need to have the fan start at 100% because the vid card is idleing and wont create much heat... once u get into windows u can use ati tool to set it on 100% and save the profile... i use 3d detection so my 2d clocks on my x800gto is 400/400 and my 3d clocks is 650/650... i put 2d so low so i can turn fan to 5%... i have a HIS iceq2 cooler so im fine with running 400/400 on 5%
if it works then dont do anything else other than nessisary stuff

Thats the problem though i cant find where to turn the fans up in ATI tool, possibly because i'm using the beta? or maybe i just dont know where it is:) . oh and the RAMDRIVE thing never went away, but i dont think its doing any harm there, so its fine for now, who knows maybe one day it will just go away

Unfortunately your feeling is correct and you can't unlock more pipes. The only thing that you can do is to overclock.[/QUOTE]

Dolf, thanks for the feedback. Overclocking this baby seems to be working fine; guess I'm just greedy! :p

Does the x1800 use the same method to unlock it's pipes as the X800?

Yes, they are great for OCing vs R430. In the end R480's can usually match at least the same benchmarks of 16 pipe unlocked R430, if not surpass them. Get some good aftermarket cooling, (i.e. Zalman vf900-cu, AC Silencer 5 Rev.2) and you'll be set!
