Hi all!

I just wonder some things,
what do you guys think about the new technology that comes next summer, if it's a huge difference from today?

Because i probably will get some money THIS summer (i Hope) and i want to upgrade my current system but i dont want to do it this year.. xD.
I want the best then.. :D

But will the, for example, CPU's have like six or more Cores then today or something like that? I saw a article in Sweclockers (Swedish hardware site) that a new I7 would have 6-cores and 12 Threads. Sounds nice, but probably cost alot!

I have the patience to wait a year but not more.. ;)

Sure, hardware gets better every year but it should be fun to see others opinions and ideas. :)

In such a volatile market and economy it's really hard to say what might happen. AMD is on the verge of death, and ATI might fall with them. nVidia and Intel losing their main competition could drive prices up significantly, or it might cause each of them to take other drastic measures. Then the possibility that VIA and nVidia merging could bring a new platform for x86 processors. A full outside company could also come in and split AMD/ATI.

Hardware gets better every year for sure, but without competition it isn't going to get a lot cheaper. Intel seems the safest route, but certainly not the cheapest in the long run...

So true, didn't think about the Economy thing.. >.<
It's sad that AMD/ATI is pretty f****ed up, but i hope they survive,
but it will be cool if VIA merges with nVidia because they make nice chips. :)

But if we think on the "bright?" side. If everything become good and stuff.
What do you want to come, next year? :)

I'd want nVidia to buy AMD for the x86 license, and Intel to buy ATI for the GPU capability.

or...

nVidia to merge with VIA for the x86 license. IBM to pick up DAAMIT, slap em around something fierce and make em work under the IBM branding. And Intel to sit and spin so everyone else can catch up, they certainly have enough money laying around.

I don't really see any big suprises for next year except for Windows 7.

Well AM3+RD890+SB850 should be ready next year. Sata 3 too.

I find 6, 8, 12 cores not really intersting gaming wise.

Hmm.. AM3, didn't think of that either.. :)
Does the SB850 have better OC capabilities, then the 750? No one knows, but are there any rumors?

I really hope that AMD/ATI can survive.. ;D

I'm a pretty big fan of AMD. I haven't had any major issues and their prices are fair. I really hope to see them sick it out and pull through.

we have no idea what will happen by the end of this year, so even thinking a year and a half in advance about what your going to buy is just crazy. By that point Intel should be at 22nm technology, AMD will be at 32nm, and who even knows what GPU's will look like now that they are hitting 45nm and AMD is already starting 32nm testing.

8 core Xenon's will be released by the end of the year btw

Games courses (well the ones i looked at, all UK based) still carry a lot of base computer science modules, so normaly you end up doing computer science with computer games development (like the course i'm graduating in this year).

Of course these are all 3 or 4 year long full-time courses.

what ever you do get some certs under your belt, in this day and age, the right combo of certs can/will outweigh a degree...even bachelors.
