If the system can't read the video cards BIOS then it can't assign a adapter ID and with out a adapter ID then atiflash can't flash the EEprom. IT could be a problem with the mother board too if you can't get a adapter ID for the HD2600. If you want you can ship the card to me and I can try to fix it. I have about 4 PCI-E mother boards to work with laying around. If you want me to try then give me a PM.

If you have a friend or family member that has a working system with a PCI-E mother board you might try and see if it will see the HD2600 and give it a adapter ID. If it does then you might try reflashing your HD3870 on it. Your mother board might have a problem with it if you can't get a adapter ID with it and because if it it might have missed up the flash on your HD3870. If you don't have a friend or family with a system to work on then what CPUs do you have laying around. I have 3 socket 775 but will not see core2 and a socket AM2 here. If your have the parts to get them up then I would ship one of them to you to barrow.

ATIflash does not give the ID. When your mother board boots and post, the BIOS is the one that sets the adapter ID and writes it to the system memory the 640K block that is used to hold the BIOS and ATIflash reads the adapter ID form the system memory. Its the BIOS on the mother board that does this not ATIflash. Thats why I think there might be a problem with your mother board.

Thats the the problem is I don't know. This is weird/strange for a working card to no have a adapter ID. Do the drivers install right for the HD2600? The drivers use the ID string of the video card to ID the video card to install the right drivers in the driver pack.

i updated the bios of the mobo(p35 ds4) (F12 to F13)and it works.. i could reach 2600xt under dos with command ''atiflash -i'' but still cant reach 3870.. i have tried to boot from floopy and used a disk with an autoexec.bat file which contains the command ''atiflash.exe -f -p 0 rv670.bin''(blind flash).. but i guess it didnt work.. my 3870 still does not have a bios..

Lucky Me!!! İ have send the card to the seller and i think they could not fix it.. they have send me a new card and :) it is a ''Sapphire HD4850 Vapor-X 512Mb'' i should organize a celebration or something for this..:rockout::D
