Cooler Master Readying Gladiator 600 Mid-Tower Case

Out on a good run with its most recent case products, Cooler Master is preparing a new mid-tower case named Gladiator 600. Slated for a CeBIT 2009 release, the Gladiator 600 comes with a user-friendly design. Measuring 202 x 235 x 480 mm (W x D x H), and weighing 9.7 kg (around 21.3 lbs), the case is made mostly of SECC steel. Its front-panel, including the front-fan intake and the drive-bay covers are made of a mesh-like design.

It comes with provision for up to five fans, including mounts on the front, rear, and top of the case, along with the side-panel. Further there will be two variants carved out depending on the presence of a window on the side-panel: RC-600-KKN1GP (without), RC-600-KWN1GP (with). A mostly tool-free design is employed. The motherboard tray features an opening right behind the spot where most motherboards feature CPU sockets. This helps users to install/maintain CPU coolers with back-plates without having to remove the entire motherboard from its place. There are additional latches and openings in the tray that help in cable-management. We will know more about this case when it gets released this CeBIT.

One of the better mid-range cases I've seen from Cooler Master in awhile the vent hole for the PSU is a nice touch as well as sticking with 120mm fans.

Still, it's a bit disappointing that they did not make any provision to run the 4/8-pin power cable behind the motherboard tray so you would not have to use any kind of cable extender to route it along the edge like the Antec 300/900/1200. Also, I'm not seeing any kind of filtration on the front of the case which is a bummer since I know they have that on some of their other mid-range cases. If they had added a window it would have made this case a really nice entry-level one for a gaming rig.

Overall, some minor issues but not bad.

It seems that the producers of case/chassis have stopped investing in research and development, these pre-built case are just in simple metal.

Gone are the good old days of high-quality cases like the Stacker 831 heavy use of alumminum and build functionality.

It seems you are wrong/misinformed. They still make the Stacker. Companies tend to offer a variety of cases made with different materials for various budgets. There are plenty of high quality case manufacturers.

I totally agree. Cooler Master has borrowed some great design ideas from previous sucesses (thinking the HAF) and are making variants to fit needs of others.

I have seen many Lian cases that are light, sturdy, workable, beautiful and well built - but have airflow issues. They are pretty to look at and touch but that's about it.

The interesting thing is, I'm on a HAF build right now. I've worked with cases that would be great as a seat, but I get the impression if I sit on the HAF, it would CRUMPLE.
