[WTB][US] parts for father in laws best & last PC

im putting together a new tower for my father in law who has recently been diagnosed w/
lung cancer. :cry:

im gonna build around my 6000x2 that i recently upgraded and 2GB of ballistix i have.
im not sure what board or video card im lookin @ yet so i would appreciate some offers to see what i can do for a reasonable price.
so things i need are
a decent am2 board
video card that will play any civ game and maybe some fps games.
and maybe a terabyte hdd so i can load him up with games so he doesn't get bored.
any and all hints and help is much appreciated

I have an 8600GTS 512 Silent Pipe 3 I can get rid of for $50, BNIB with everything. Very nice video card. Its in my FS thread.
Alternatively I have a 4850 for $100, doesnt have the stock fan, it is currently under water.

Sig tells a very sad story. I was originally supposed to go in november, but they held me off until the 22nd, and arrived in iraq on christmas night (would have been about 5:00 christmas eve in the states).
Thank you for recognizing that. You wouldnt believe how many insults I get for my sig for being in the military, as if IM the one that makes the decisions of the country, and IM the one responsible for it.

As you were getting there...I was celebrating Christmas number 2 in a row there

Got home 31 Dec 07 after 15 months of fun in Doura.

That tour encompassed 2 bdays, 2 Thanksgivings, 2 Christmas's, 1 anniversary and 1 wife's bday. Cost 18 friend's lives. But now that area of Iraq is one of the safest in the country when it was the most dangerous in the country when we got there. So time well spent.

I hope you feel the same for yours

Sorry I have no parts to add. Nothing I have would do you any good unless you can use an AGP video card

hate to say it myself, but redwings has the best deal so far, I would say my 4850, but it would require the purchase of a $20 fan. Alternatively, I can do the fan for you, and sell it for $120. Good deals here so far, check the reviews and see which you like best.
My 8600GTS can max out any civ games, and do crysis very well.

I have all the respect in the world for you. My father was in the Army until I was about 12 years old. He spent most of his time in Korea and had two tours during Desert Storm.
