Upgrade!?

Ok i was thinking about upgrading, eyeballing the AMD kuma X2 7750BE, which is only $60 at Newegg, my question is, would it benefit over my current setup, i know for a fact, that this motherboard would do wonders against my old one:

The kuma is good but I don't think it would be much of an upgrade compared to the e6000 series. I went from a E7200 to the 7750 and I didn't really notice any speed boost. If you got a PII after awhile, then yea it would be worth it.

thats a nice motherboard, but the one i picked out has features that i want, like onboard Coaxial, more than 3 audio ports and 2 IDE ports....so

Why not just upgrade the cpu. An E8400, E8500 is a ocing beast.

I'm pretty sure his board doesn't do 45nm.

But what exactly do you need in a board?

I don't think you will see much of a boost from that upgrade. I would wait and get a PII when the drop in price. When all of the AM3's are released, they are gonna phase out the original's and you should get one for nice a cheap/

im not in much interest in a boost of speed, but in a cheaper proc/mobo combo, that proc/mobo combo is only $140, and the one in my machine is roughly $200(including aftermarket heatsink), so if i sell that and some other stuff, i can get 2 mobo/cpu combos instead of one.....

My real question is:
Is switch from my current CPU to the x2 7750 BE, going to slow me down alot, or roughly give me the same performance?

It going to probably slow you down abit, the E6550 is better, the KUMA compares to the E5200 which only really at stock speeds can it compare to it.. and they trade blows.. seeing as you have the E6550 you have more Cache 4mb v 2mb on the E5200 which give you more of a boost.

Basically your upgrade would be totally pointless because your not really upgrading your slightly downgrading.

If you were to get a P II x3 or x4 then i'd be all for it

You're better of sticking to your current CPU and overclocking it; the E6550 shold overclock fine, and you should be able to overclock to 3 GHz even on the stock cooler.

Judging from the previous posts I'd say you shouldn't bother getting an x2, it'd be a slight downgrade.
