Hello friends,
I want to buy a good mobilephone within 20,000 INR.

Till now i've used only nokia [s60 and nseries].

I've also ipod touch so i dont want iphone.

Wifi is must and better if 3G facility is there..
My usage will be for all possible functions.. music, video, games, books, softwares... I'm an intern so better if more medical utilities are available for it..

I'm more interested in PDA.

Can you suggest me good mobilephone/pda?

Reply with reviewes and company and model no.

You can see Indianprices at indianshopping sites if you don't know indianprice.

Do not get the Storm, it has horrible reviews. Also I wouldn't recommend the Omnia either.

My friend has a Blackberry Curve, and is very satisfied with it. I also played around with it, and it seems superb. I'm thinking of buying one myself.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is one of my favourites. i do not own it, but have tinkered around with it several times.

Hm the 5800, the one with the touch screen? Don't get it. Too much plastic, touchscreen not good. It has the Symbian OS tho, so you can install mostly all apps from previous Nokia models. Touch Diamond would be the better option imho.

Yet I've had mine for 2 months and think it's the best gadget on the market. No WiFi though so it's out the question anyway.

The one you used must of been an early version, the latest firmware for the phone irons out all the touch screen troubles. And as for too much plastic? How much do you want the phone to weigh?

I use a 5800 at the moment and it kicks arse!

The wifi is loads faster than on the n95,n96. The gps is a lot stronger too. The touchscreen is a breeze to use. Oh and the extra apps make the phone brilliant. Dont get me wrong your not gonna get useless shite like a kebab shop finder like on the iphone, but more usefull apps which are not just gimmiks.

not all apps work yet for 5800 due to the new symbian version and the touchscreen technology. the big screen would be helpful though if you get some medical stuff on there the one ive found most useful is
"MSDict Oxford Concise Medical Dictionary S60 3rd Edition"
ive found diagnosing software a bit clumsy for a phone

now that i think about it the diagnosing software was actually for my pda sorry, its not really worth the hastle i found though, plus i found i learnt more if i spent time looking it up, if your still desperate for something try one of the many free online tools for diagnosing try www.wrongdiagnosis.com that one is alright.
with all my other symbian nokia phones its come with ms office and adobe already on it so i would think so, in terms of new apps im sure theres going to be loads of stuff being updated to run on the 5800 or new ones released specially for it.

The 5800 comes with quickoffice which lets you use excel and word files and it comes with a pdf reader from adobe. Thats your office bits sorted.

On mine i have.....

Talking Dictionary,
Paint,
Handwriting calculator,
Fring (msn messenger, skype, facebook, yahoo chat, icq, loads more),
Garmin Mobile (GPS navigation better than nokia maps),
Google Maps,
A pedometer which can then show me my route via google maps,
Opera Internet Browser,
Accuweather (weather forecasts).

And there is tons of stuff i've not tried yet!

I wish I had found this thread sooner so I can help you out.

First - whoever said Windows Mobile 7 came with the palm is wrong. 6.5 isnt even out yet and 7 is slated for like Q4 of 2010 or something.

Now, coming from experience, the HTC Touch Pro is one heck of a ppc. You say you have an ipod touch? Guess what, with the htc touch pro you can set up wifi point. Yeah, you heard me right. Your ipod touch will have access to the internet because the touch pro will act as a wifi router (you simply need the right software.) I can show u how. PPCGeeks.com has a lot of information on how to get the touch pro running great. XDA developer forums all have geniuses working on custom apps for the thing. Windows Mobile might not be the best UI, but you can get the most for your money from it.

Trust me, the htc touch pro is a great phone and my number one suggestion, especially if you already have an ipod touch.

The 5800 will do this also! Works a treat.

The game asphalt has been replaced with RT GR which is the same but you use the phones tilt sensor to turn, etc.

Touch pro is around 30,000INR [around 600USD] in INdia. So it's out of my budget. and i've wifi at my home.

Does same facility available in htc touch diamond?

which one is best according to you among nokia 5800, n 79, n85, n82 and htc touch diamond?

Oh sorry man. I'm all spoiled by my CDMA version (Sprint in America.) I got mine with a 2 year contract for 150 bucks after complaining to sprint long enough for screwing me over on the samsung instinct phone.

It all depends on what you'll need your phone for. Windows mobile is a great OS, and there's sooo much stuff you can get for it, but the symbian os has a lot of stuff available to it too.

The htc diamond's on screen keyboard won't be as nice as the 5800. The touch pro has a slide out keyboard so its not something that effects me.

I had a palm 700w and hated it with a passion, a POS.

Currently have the Samsung i760 and still love it after 1.5 years. Windows moble 6.1, with office moble, WiFi, a good touch screen and slide-out keyboard. It does not have an external exposed GP, but you can get a BT one. There are a host of hacks and 3rd party apps for it too.
