Overclocking Crossifre 4850's..

...is it worth it? what programs would be best to use to overclock both cards? Anyone had experience in this?..both of my cards seem to be pretty half arsed overclockers from what ive found but i'd like to squeeze as much as i can out of my system. Ive been working on my CPU for a while now but my cards are at stock..so i thought why not push the cards since temps are relatively low

....they run 650 on the core..last time i tried to clock these they weren't even stable at 700 core...What id like to know is is this a crossfire thing? or could it be that the HIS iceQ standard edition 4850's purely dont like to clock higher?...thanks in advance.

Eh, my 4850s don't seem to like overclocking aswell. I used CCC so far... dunno if I'm asking too much of them or its because they're factory oc'ed...

The catalyst control center works very well. If you need to go higher than the limit, just flash your cards bios.

hmm...when im runnin crossfire i cant use ccc...overdrive has always been blacked out for some reason. not sure whats the go with that

Ive only tried rivatuna for overclocking my 4850's...tried to clock both of them one after the other...kept gettin graphical glitches and artifacts with a 50mhz overclock!..how sh1te is that?...especially with the memory, if i touch that it just spazzes out. Im yet to learn the art of gfx overclocking so any info is most welcome.

lol always good, or always embarrasing? id say a bit of both haha...i so should have known that but ive been using nvidia cards for the past 5 years so i'll use that for an excuse.

HIS iceq4 4850's are good for overclocking, though not sure if it's stable when xfired. just make sure they both have the same OC and aircooling keeps them cool.

ah well, ive used overdrive now to oc my 4850's...but its pointless. it overclocked them from 650/1000 to 690/1170 but is in NO way stable even in the slightest lol...so i tested and tested and tested. Turns out if i overclock either the core or the memory on these card by more than 20mhz they start artifacting or locking up. I thought HIS iceQ's would overclock at least a little, even tho they're only the standard editions...maybe it is just a xfire thing?

I don't know if I got lucky or what, but when I had my ASUS 4850 TOP I had it overclocked to 720/1100 without any problems at all.. And I'd think that your HIS's would do as good or better. Have you tried disabling crossfire or taking one card out to see if maybe it is something with the crossfire or one of teh cards?
