Wrist rests...

Does anybody use a wrist rest? Either for a keyboard or a mouse? (I'm more interested in the mouse rest.)

I'm debating whether or not I should get one, my wrists have been aching the past few days. I rest my wrist on the desk, so my wrist is basically angled upwards when using the mouse. (And keyboard.)

i have one built in to my keyboard.

I find the mouse ones (fabirc) tend to chafe my wrist or get in the way when i want to move the mouse to the lower half of the mousepad.

roll a hand towel and rest your wrist on that for an evening and see if the issue goes away. My lady uses a mouse pad with a neoprene base and a gel wrist rest. I cut the rest off the small ass mouse pad and now she uses it on a hard mat. She really likes it, I personally cant stand it, but I dont have a wrist issue either.

I rolled up my boxers and I don't like it much. It limits my mouse movement, which is bad for gaming.

limited mouse movement doesnt get along with me either.

Boxers here... are underwear. i am... confused as to why you rolled up your underwear to use as a wrist rest.

A clean pair of boxers! I rolled it up since it's 100% cotton and super soft.

I can't work with wrist rests. However when I start to feel pain, I simply take a break, moving my wrist and stretching it, that helps. For me that is.

My wrists have been crackling, making the noise you make when you crack your knuckles so I told myself it was time I got a rest.

I do, I use a Razer one which came with my Exact Mat (piece of c***).

It's really comfortable but not suited for anyone who needs the movement of the mouse. I use such a high sensitivity my wrist never moves, and my mouse hardly moves :)

I have a cheapo gel wrist rest mouse mat, wouldnt be able to use the PC for long without it.

Dont have problems with it being too small, thats why i bought a laser mouse! :D

My keyboard also has a rest built in.

I've been wanting to get the eXactMat, but the Pro Solutions Pro Pad is a lot cheaper. Thing is, it doesn't come with a wrist rest. I'm not sure what I should do since I'm a relatively low sens gamer.

The ExactMat is shit, I've had it less than 6 months, the coating has come off already, I should have just bought a hard bit of plastic...

I like the white Pro Pad. I'll see if I can find the eXactRest somewhere else.

The Exactrest is good, it's a bit taller than most other wrist wrests, but I prefer it. You should be able to buy it separately. The only reason I got the pack with the exactmat was because I saved like £15 buying them together...

I looked on Newegg/Amazon/eBay... nothing!

I use the Exactrest - but I play with high sensitivity so the restricted movement is not a problem.
Though it took some time to get used to, I find it very comfortable now.

I have a Razer exactmat and the rest for my mouse and my Microsoft Reclusa has a leather rest. they are both very comfortable

The only problem i had was the exact rest's razer logo which started fading away after 3-4 months

If you are sufering from RSI (wrist strain) I suggest the following:

1. Apple keyboard. Yes, it is so flat and low, you just rest you wrists on the table. It is VERY comfortable postition once you get used to it

2. Get a smaller mouse, like the MS laptop mouse. It will fit in the "cup" of your hand while is still rests on the table

I'm going to get a laptop styled keyboard that has an optional wrist rest that I'll be sure to use. And I guess I'll grab the eXactMat instead of the Pro Pad.

The biggest thing is to make sure that your mouse, as well as keyboard are at the right height so your wrist is basically coming straight onto them, and not angled down. angled up a bit is alright (for the keyboard.)

Here is a little trick i developed years ago for competitive games, get an old sock, not a nylon one, a kinda poofy smooth soft one, cut the bottom off it so you just have the part that comes up your leg, so its a tube, put that on your wrist and your arm will glide on the desk like no other.

This is why i love the iMak ergo as you can ajust it much better than those fixed to the mouse pad types and hell better than gell much softer and molds to the shape of your wrist.
