Hey peeps,

I just got finished playing a couple of single player missions.. as well as some online games... I have found this game to be a little overrated. I found the game play to be mediocre at best, the action was not anything new, and it was certainly not scary. I am playing it on an Xbox 360.. Is it any different/better on the PC? I'm not just starting this thread to bitch, I would like to know if there is anything I can do to enhance the experience. I'd also like to know your opinions on the game. :toast:

eh, i must say i agree. i found the game fun, but no where near the hype it's recieved. Though seeing as how it was CSS zombie mod's that inspired the makin of the game and the size of the CSS community it makes sense for it to have large hype. i'd give the game a 7/10, nice graphics for the source engine, very scalable for all pc's, rather new type of gameplay imo but the gameplay is too repetitive. Once the modding community gets going for it and makes new levels and what not then it will be a better game to play. I still prefer css lol

Everything's more fun when you're naked.

Except frying bacon, perhaps..........

Ouch. So no suggestions to improving the experience besides being naked? Which online mode is the best? The campaign or versus?

Have you tried playing with real life friends yet? Make sure everyone has a microphone and a few cans of beer and suddenly it's the most fun on earth.

I say versus mode is more of a challenge. Not only do you all have an individual job as the infected, but even as survivors you really have to have a cohesive group to do well.

Dark room with just the screen and headphones, then add the beer, it seems a bit better that way to me.

It seemed ok, the zombie swarms are cool and all, but only for so long. Seems beyond that there are very little zombies.

Versus sounds like fun.. I haven't jumped on that. I don't have any friends on live who on the game and I don't drink but I could see where that would be a good time. My brother and I joined a quick match for campaign.. and I have to say it is horrible being matched with random people.. No one would stick together and I was constantly being shot by a person.. Yeah I think the experience may be better with friends.

They have some fuckin nerve charging what they did for that game. I liked the demo so much I bought it on the day it came out for €60 ($80)...man was I disappointed. Completed the campaign in about 4 and a half hours first run through, then 2 hours afterwards. It's too fuckin short, and I can't be bothered playing on Expert cos I just can't be arsed playing it. Tried online, wasn't a big fan of that, especially playing as the infected as one shot and your fuckin dead.

In short, over hyped. And, for god's sake, FULL RETAIL PRICE? I should have paid a hooker I would have had more fun AND got free aids. I played about 10 hours of it, only have about 550 achievement points for it (360 version) and really can't be arsed getting the others, I wish I could delete the game off my profile because it's bringing my competition percentage down.

Damn, now that's an honest response. I'm glad by brother and I went halves on it.. so it only ran us about $27 each.

I should have started this thread before I went out and bought the game lol. Now I feel like a chump. I have had it for 4 hours and I'm already kind of sick of it.

I loved the game personally. Try it for pc because it has better graphics, more zombies and better support from valve it gets patched all the time to balance it out.

I don't know how I am going to justify buying it on the PC after such a let down. Not to mention I already spent over fifty bucks on the Xbox version.

Yeah, don't get me wrong it's a good game, but I was robbed. I couldn't have bought it for PC as I didn't have my rig built at the time, but it's still too much for the game, €25 on Steam in the sale a while back was good, but not more than €40. They probably could have sold more copies. I just feel as though I could have spent my money better.

Kind of makes me mad, I could have used that €60 to get an Antec 1200 :(

Good idea man. I may just do that. I hope I can get some credit at gamestop for this game.

Should have waited I grabbed mine for £30. I like L4D but you need a friend to play through it with that way its more fun than ending up with a douche team.

I haven't read through the thread or anything, but I had it for 360 and hated it as well.

But on PC it's AWESOME! Grab a buddy and play. The 360 controller makes scary games nullified, because you can't whip the mouse around immediately. Not to say that L4D is the scariest game, but when you hear a hunter pounce at you, it can get a tad hairy.

I literally sold my 360 copy within 10 minutes of playing it.

Man that is exactly how I feel.. my brother likes it though. I'm going to try and get him to sell it back to gamestop. Unfortunately, I don't think they accept returns on new games. So the most I can get for it (which I probably will get less) will be about half the original cost. :shadedshu

They don't accept returns for new games, and you won't get more than $15 for it selling it back.

Do you go to school? I sold a LOT of my 360 games to friends at about 4x what Gamestop would give to me. List it up on here for sale, although TPU isn't great for selling Xbox 360 stuff.
