Opinions on thermalright IFX-14

Right we all know about the TRUE 120.

But technically shouldn't this model http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_p...intel_bp/product_cpu_cooler_ifx-14-intel.html

Do better? more surface area etc.

Thoughts please or link to some decent reviews, thanks guys.

I would go and check out what they have to say at frostytech on that cooler.. I've seen a few rigs at XS have that cooler in place and they say it's pretty good.. I don't know since I haven't read a review on it. But, from what I hear it's good, but some still think that TRUE is the mack daddy..

One of my friend is using this and it rocks even without fans on it
Cooled his Q6600 nicely
and his rig is sick :laugh:

I'm not sure if it would clear my ram heat spreaders.

Anyone know the clearance of this thing?

No the fans.. it goes red for the case back, then 2 greens for the cpu it self.. If you change the green and red around... lol.. Nah, that's a pretty sweet looking set up.

As for the coverage.. It should.. You should be able to clear it fine if you get 20-25mm 120's.. Now, if you got a delta like I had. It's 38mm.. That took out one of my ram slots

Its so big!

Got to get me it now ha ha, I think my heat spreaders may touch is but if worst comes to worst I'll bust out the tin snips and shorten the heat spreaders on my ram, they run nice and cold anyway.

guess you need to permanently open the side panel? that thing won't fit on my case with the side panel on. My TRUE is almost touching the sidepanel how much more of that

It might just about fit, going to measure up later on, but for now I'm going round a friends to have stew!

Well i think Thermalright IFX-14 is the best, but it's pricey! :toast:

Its very good, I have one and love it

Q6600 @ 3.6GHz in a 30C+ room and it could handle it under 100% load :cool:

and thats with a 1500RPM Scythe Ultra Kaze (its the 3000RPM version turned down to 1500RPM). In a 15C room it could handle my Q6600 @ 4.0GHz under load

I have got one works very well on mw old E6750. The only thing I dont like about mine is once the backplate and backside cooler is on. There is only 2 screws that hold the actual heatsink on... Never bothered to look and see if there was a better bolt kit for it though. And also the standard finish on the base of mine was crapola needed lapping.
