I would say maybe 5-7%. If you want a very nice bump in performance why not go with the Phenom II 720BE:rockout:

If you manage to get the 7750 to 3+ ghz then it will be worth upgrade, otherwise just wait, that 6400 is not bad cpu either.

You would see a nice incrase in performance... overclock it to 3Ghz with stock voltage and cooler. the 2MB L3 helps. I've had it stable at 3.2Ghz but have stock cooler so went to 3Ghz

Wont see a big increase, but the 7750 is a great cpu. They are cheap and very oc'able.

Good idea. I have an X2 6400+ right now and it's pretty good, so to see any major performance difference you would need a good triple- or quad-core.

Do not waste your time/money, performance will be similar. You might even loose performance in some situations. The only upgrade path worth considering from a high-end dual core is the Phenom II X3 or X4 range.

BTW fill out your system spec http://forums.techpowerup.com/profile.php?do=specs

Edit:

What is your budget?

Phenom II X3 710 is £100 and the Phenom II X3 720 is £120 free delivery.

You failed to mention what type of board you have. It may not even accept that CPU.

It didn't show up because you didn't select "Save changes" to apply the edits.

http://forums.techpowerup.com/profile.php?do=specs

Save up £30 more and get the Phenom X3 II 710, at minimum this is the CPU you should be looking at.

Athlon X2 7850 isn't that much faster than the 7750 or 6400+, the Phenom II X3/X4 is would annihilate both, enough to justify the additional cost.

Edit:

Its showing up now :)

ObSo-1337, what is this rig for, because the AMD 6400+ is sill capable and @ 3.4 GHz you are ok for a while. If anything the only upgrade you should be worried about is your GPU.

That x1950 Pro has to go, replace it with an Nvidia GTS 250 or a ATI 4830/50 if you're a gamer.

Edit:

You said that you have £70, Ebuyer is selling a reduced ATI 4830 for £74. It would be much faster than your current GPU and would max-out all your games, presuming that you're a gamer.

it's outdated because it's an older model. However, it still give you juice when playing games.

+1 on it.

My F3 Windsor 5600 @ 3.45 Ghz played crysis smooth with my 4850. With all medium settings I got 40 fps average. I upgraded to PII X3 720 BE @ 3.6 my avg fps jumped to 55 with same settings.

So your 6400 is still good. Buy a 4850/30 or you can buy here used for that price.

Damian, check the news section the 7750 are just a quad with 2 cores dissabled via software(bios) you can trick some boards into unlocking all 4 cores.
