I just bought Empire Total War. I have an x1950 pro and it will only play this game on medium which looks terrible. I tried googling some requirments for this game and didnt see any recommended video cards.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on what will run this game better?

What's your price range?

For $100 you can pick up an ATI 4770 which will help your performance big time.

I'd go with the 4770 still.

Can't beat the performance for the price.

Under $150

I would also suggest the 4770. Great card and will save you more money. Then when you get an extra $50, you can get another one and have a sick setup

Well newegg doesn't have a single 4770 in stock! Any other suggestions? Do you think the 4770 will get me up to very high detail in this game?

Yeah, that's the problem. NewEgg is having a hard time keeping them in stock.

Would you be willing to buy from another site or does it have to be from NewEgg?

What resolution do you run at?

Well, I would say NewEgg should have them back in stock again within the next few days if you don't mind waiting. Plus they dropped the price on them by $5-$10 depending on the brand..

No problem.

Just make sure you pick a brand or two that you want on NewEgg, and select "Auto Notify" so you will get that nice email when they come in stock and you can grab one quick before they are gone again..

With an E6600 and a 19 inch widescreen he might as well save the money. HD 4850 or HD 4770 are about all his system would need or could make good use of.

Right but with a GTX260 that means he wouldn't need to upgrade his gpu if he gets another monitor. Plus at that price its a steal.

$85 for an HD 4850 is a bigger steal and will max any game he plays at that resolution. Most of the time buying for "what ifs" is a wasted effort.

Going From A X1950 To A 4770 Would Not Be A Real Improvement
That's 256bit To 128bit
Go For At Least A 4830

The 4770 ownz the 4830 as its a revamped dieshrink of the 4830 the 128bit makes use of gddr5 and gives it the same bandwidth.

go for the 4850 hell of a card:toast:

You're joking, right? The HD 4770 beats the HD 4830. It nearly matches an HD 4850 and would be a big step up from an X1950 Pro.
